| News/Obit* | 10 May 2005 | Robert L. Harrold Sr., a retired State Farm insurance agent, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston TX, of leukemia. He was age 70. Mr. Harrold was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in New Orleans, LA on Franklin Ave. The son of the late Catherine Stears of Finley, OH and Kenneth Harrold of Ellwood, PA. He attended P.A. Capdau then Warren Easton Schools. Bob was a member of the Boy Scouts in his youth and went on to become a counselor, a scout master and continued his support, over the next fifty years, volunteering at the Camp Salmen-Boy Scout 'Pooh-bah's.' His love of people continued, throughout his life, in his work with junior achievements and special olympics. After graduating from South Eastern LA University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, he moved his family to the Westbank. In 1984, he and his wife moved to Lacombe, LA. Bob retired in may of 2004 and moved to Kiln, MS. Survivors include: his beloved wife of 48 years, Joy Fairley Harrold of New Orleans, LA; two children, a son, Robert L. Harrold, Jr. of Slidell, LA and a daughter, Cate H. Harding of Slidell; a son-in-law, Gary P. Harding of Slidell; a sister and brother, Betty Griffin of Metairie, LA and Bill Harrold of Mandeville, LA; five adoring grandchildren: Reagan H. Gatlin, Robert 'Robby' L. Harrold III, Ashley S. Harding, Drew P. Harding and Reese P. Harding; one precious great grandson, Austin M. Gatlin; many nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for family and friends on Thursday, May 12th at Schoen Funeral Home, 3808 Pontchartrain Dr., Slidell, LA 70458, from 9:00 - 12:00 noon.
