Pop-up Pedigree

Note*   Michael's age is contested. While there is no record of a baptism for him in the church records in Berg, Many people give his birth as 10 Jun 1750. The Orphan's record dated 1 Jul 1768 lists his age as 11 which would date his birth as 1767 and if the day and month previously gven are correct , his birth date would be 10 Jun 1757.

Russell was more interested in the first generation of the Firestones and did not follow many of the children and what records we have of Michael ends in Frederick Co., MD. He doesn not seem to be found in census records but there is a record on World Connect that includes a wife and children.

This suggests there were other children besides Joseph, Sophia and Michael who are found in later census records, Joseph in Lake Co., Indiana (Michael may be living with him in 1850) and Sophia who married a George Hartman or Hurtman and stayed in Washington Co. Susanna brought many Russell children into this marriage fram a previous marriage.

From Russell's Firestone Genealogy (1993):
Michael Firestone, youngest son of Nicholas and Cathanina (Nunnenmacher) Firestone, was born circa 1756, probably in Lancaster, County , Pa ., and was 11 years old when his brother-in-law John Stiffler was appointed his guardian at York County Orphans Court 1 June 1768. A member of the Dutch [Reformed] Church, Michael Firestone served in the Revolutionary War as a private in Captain John Hubley's Company, Lt. Lambert Cadwalader's Third Pennsylvania Battalion, pay roll dated 1
September 1776, muster roll dated Philadelphia 24 February 1781, and undated list made at Fort Washington. Michael settled in Frederick County, Maryland, before 1781, where he leased US-acre lot number 23 in Daniel, Dulany's Monocacy Mall or, located on present Dublin Road northeast of Devilbiss Bridge in Woodsborough District. Michael was among the tenants who lost their leases when Dulany's property was confiscated and auctioned. On 10 October 1781 lot number 23 was purchased by Dr. Pindell for £750.
