Nicholas was a private 5th class in the Cumberland Co., Militia in 1781.

He journed on foot to Tennesse where he lived one year with his mother c 1788 in McMinne Co.

He received $233.33 from his father as part of the downpayment on land in Ohio in 1796. He settled onthis land in Fairport township, Columbiana Co. in 1801. He entered a section of 640 acres and received title deed in 1804. He received several more tracts of land in that county and also traveled to Stark County in 1806 and bought a tract of land which he later deeded to his son Henry.

Nicholas was one of the first trustees of Fairfield township, Columbiana county.

Nicholas Firestone, Jr., oldest son of Nicholas and Eva Catharina (Schwab) Firestone of Paradise Township, York County, Pa., was born 30 January 1767. He died in Fairfield Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, 31 August 1847 aged 80 yrs. 1 month [sic], 3 days, and is buried at New Waterford Cemetery, Unity Township. He married first in Frederick County, Md., 3 February 1789 Elizabeth Shane/[Schoen?]. She was born 13 March 1768, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Shane, and died in Fairfield Township August 1833, aged 65 yrs. 5 mos. 21 days, and is buried with her husband. At the age of 70 Nicholas married second 2 September 1838 Mrs. Elizabeth (Linn/Lynn) (Church) Hoover of Trumbull County, Ohio. She died 6 May 1855, aged 68 yrs. 10 mos. 6 days, and is buried at Zion Church Cemetery, Canfield, Mahoning County, Ohio. By deed dated 28 June 1792 Nicholas Firestone of Frederick County, Md., purchased at auction from the executors of James Hunter for £86.14 the 51-acre lot no. 44 in Fielderia Manor adjoining George Shaaf and Caleb House's Acer Pastllre. By deeds dated 31 May and 5 August 1798 Nicholas Firestone, farmer, sold lot no. 44 to Caleb House for £2.19.6 and £270.17.6. On 15 November 1797 he and John Fink jointly purchased from Philip Cloninger the 47-acre Near the Nable near Broad Run for £980. On 18 September 1802 they sold it to John Slifer, Sr. for £1400. Nicholas was head of family in Middletown District No.3, Frederick County, in 1800, he and wife age 26 to 45, with one girl 10 to 15, and one boy and two girls under 10. Of Frederick County, Md., on 9 November 1801 at the Steubenville, Ohio, U.S. Land Office, Nicholas entered 64O-acre Section 1, Fairfield Township 12, Range 2, in Columbiana County, Ohio. His farm was near Unity Village six miles east of Columbiana Town. In 1804 and 1805 he entered additional land tracts in Canton, Plain Township, and Nimishillen Township, Stark County, Ohio. In 1820 he was head of family in Fairfield Township, he and wife age over 45, with two males 19 to 25, boy and girl 10 to 15, two of the males engaged in farming. In 1830 he and sons Peter and John were listed as heads of households in Fairfield Township. His will was dated 1 October 1844 and proved in Columbiana County 14 August 1847, naming wife Elizabeth, daughter Mary Ann (married to Andrew Christ), son Peter, son John, daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" (married to Joseph Hisey), and daughter Susan (married to Josiah Clinker). The will of his widow Elizabeth Firestone of Canfield Township, Mahoning County, Ohio, was dated 7 April 1852 and proved 21 June 1855.
