Isac Frimodig (or Palovara), was married to Maria Ersdotter, Finland





Generation 5. Isac Isacsson Frimodig

Isac Isacsson Frimodig, son of Isac Frimodig and Maria Ersdotter, was born 1 June 1808 in Parish of Karl Gustaf, Korpikyla, Finland.

He was married there, 15 March 1831, to Maria Michelsdotter, (Ylinenjervi, which means “in Military”) She was born 10 December 1799, Parish of Overtornea, Hamlet of Korpikyla, Finland.

Maria’s father was Michel Ericsson (Muori, means a farmer) born in 1759. Her mother was Brita Henriksdotter, born in 1769.

All children born in Kaafjord, Finmarken, Norway

Generation 4. John Peter Frimodig

John Peter Frimodig, son of Isac Isacsson Frimodig and Maria Michelsdotter, was born 21 November 1831, in Kaadjord, Finmarken, Norway.

He was married 13 August 1854, in Kaadjord, to Marie Mathilte Kihlange (Johanne Mathilde Augsdatter Kihlange), born in Stennik (?), Sweden, daughter of August Kihlangi. A copy of the original marriage record is in the LDS Library.

John and Marie, and their children and their families left Norway, with his brother, Henry, and arrived in the upper peninsula of Michigan. John was a carpenter.

He was married/2, to Minnnie __, who was born in Sweden. He died in 1912 in Calumet, Michigan.

All their children were born in Kaafjord, Finland.

Generation 3. Isaac Wilhelm Frimodig

Isaac Wilhelm Frimodig, son of John Peter Frimodig and Marie Mathilte Kehlange, was born 29 September 1855 in Kaalfjord, Finmarken, Norway.

He was married there, 13 March 1878 to Albertina Johansdatter Paulson, born 1 February 1858, in Alta, Norway. They belonged to the Lutheran Church, and made their home in Laurium, Michigan. Isaac was a banker.

Albertina died 15 April 1896 in Houghton, Michigan, and buried in the Lakeview Cemetery, in Calumet, Michigan.

Isaac was married/2, 28 January 1897, to Sophie Isaccson. He was married for a third time, 24 July 1913, to Ellen Johnson, then divorced.

He died 29 January 1923, in Laurium, Michigan, buried beside Marie, Lakeview Cemetery. All the children were born in Calumet, Michigan.

Generation 2. Meidell Hofstan Frimodig

Meidell Hofstan Frimodig, was born 11 March 1893, in Calumet, Michigan.

He was married 18 July 1923 in Houghton, Michigan, to Irene Madeline Siefert, who was born 22 November 1890, in Houghton, daughter of George Jameson Siefert and Elizabeth Morrison Prince.

Elizabeth was a teacher, and belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. The family resided in Peninsular Shores, Duck Lake, Grawn, Michigan.

Meidell was a Civil Engineer, and was an Army engineer, in the 32nd Division, December 1918-May 1919.

Meidell died 27 November 1976, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was buried in Traverse City, Michigan. Irene died about 1982.

Generation 2. Charles Morrison Siefert was married to Harriett Crosby Snow (Source-Mary S. Dykema, Clearwater, FL. "Snow Family Book" Generation 1. George Jameson Siefert, was born 6 February 1854, Madison, Wisconsin. A harness manufacturer, he was married 6 February 1887 in Houghton, Michigan, to Elizabeth Morrison Prince, born 26 December 1861, Michigan, and died March 1930. He died 6 December 1930, Houghton, Michigan.

All of the children were born there.

Generation 1. Claire Elizabeth Frimodig

Claire Elizabeth Frimodig, was born 10 April in Houghton, Michigan.

She was married 19 June 1948, in Lansing, Michigan, to Walter Jesse Knysh, born 14 November 1921, in Toronto, Canada, son of Andre Knysh and Josephine (Jesse) Schultz.

Walter was a teacher and sales manager. He was in the Navy 1944-5. Claire was a teacher.

She and Walter were divorced, and she was married/2 to Francis J. Wuest. They made their home in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1999.

Walter was married twice more; to Mrs. Elizabeth Rote, and to Mrs. Anne Dolomite. He died in Texas, about 1977. All children were born in Corning, New York.

  1. Andrew Meidell Knysh, born 13 November 1950; married 27 December 1972, Port of Spain, Trinidad, to Sita Jagessar; 1 child

  2. Nancy Josephine Knysh, born 28 July 1952; married and divorced twice; married/3; lived in Boston, and Washington State. 1 child
