Chavez, Paul Edward: Born 31? February 1925. He
was a resident of Sanders County. He died May 5, 1968.

Cleveland, Timothy Gordon: Son of Patrician
Munson and Gordon Cleveland of Eddy, Montana born October 14,
1949 in Thompson Falls, Montana. Moved with family to Plains in
1960. He died at Fort Ord, California 29 September 1970 of a
brain hemorrhage from injuries received in action in Vietnam.
Received Purple Heart for injuries incurred from stepping on a
mine and received a second Purple Heart after being shot in the
stomach and receiving a blow to the head three months after the
mine incident. He had been stationed at Fort Ord after the second
incident. He had forty days left before discharge when he passed
away.
Eichert, William R.: Son of Mr. and Mrs.
Franklin A. Eichert of Trout Creek born 29 April 1946 in Thompson
Falls, Montana. Graduate of Thompson Falls High School, 1964, and
attended the University of Montana, Missoula before entering the
Army in September 1966. Attained rank of first lieutenant while
student at the U. S. Army Transportation School, Fort Eustis,
Virginia.
He was killed with his father in a car crash on Hwy 10 (now Hwy
200) when the car struck the rear of a logging truck west of
Thompson Falls. William was on leave from his base at Fort
Rucker, Alabama where he had completed advanced helicopter pilot
training in preparation for an assignment to Vietnam.
Green, Charles D.: Son of Marlin R. and Iva May
Green from Noxon, Montana. He died in Vietnam June 1969.
Hinchley, Charles J.: Born 2 June 1939 and died
16 December 1967.
Lacy, Donald: Son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Lacy
born 13 May 1948. He graduated from Thompson Falls High School in
1967. He achieved rank of Seaman Apprentice in Navy. He was
killed when the U.S.S. Enterprise exploded off the coast of
Hawaii 14 January 1969. Survived by parents who resided at
Moscow, Idaho, brother, Mike Lacy, and sister, Mrs. David Falk,
who both lived in Thompson Falls, younger brothers, Jerry and
Eddie and a sister, Leona and a grandmother, Mrs. Grace Elliott,
of Libby.
Lawrence, Delmar Lawrence: Son of Mr. and Mrs.
Mark M. Lawrence from Cherry Creek, Thompson Falls, Montana born
January 6, 1946. He was killed while serving in the Navy off
coast of Vietnam 15 August 1968. He was survived by parents, wife
and two children.
McDougal, Hima Duncan Jr.Duffy: Son
of Hima McDougal and Alma Baldwin was born September 24, 1949 in
Orofino, Idaho. He enlisted in the Army January 1, 1970 as a
resident of Thompson Falls. He died in a helicopter crash after
serving less than three weeks in Vietnam, September 3, 1970.
Survivors include his mother, three sisters, Mrs. Irma Wheeler of
St. Maries, Idaho, Mrs. Barbara Frantz, Salem, Connecticut, and
Mrs. Lila Quitt, Thompson Falls, two brothers, Dale McDougal,
Superior, and Carl Eddy, San Diego, California.
Murphy, Jon Michael: born to Mr. and Mrs. James
H. Murphy October 30, 1946. He attended Thompson Falls High
School. He entered the Army Air Force in January of 1967. He was
stationed in Vietnam August 1967/ He died in a crash of a
helicopter in Vietnam March 29, 1968. He was survived by his
parents, two sisters, Marlys and Mrs. Lloyd J. Stonehocker.
Pirker, Victor John: Son of Albert and Joanne
Pirker. He enlisted in the Marine Corps 22 November 1965. He was
missing in action on his second tour in Vietnam when his
helicopter crashed 31 January 1974 at Quang Tin, South Vietnam.
His body was never recovered.
Stephens, James William: Born September 30, 1945
he attended Thompson Falls High School through his sophomore year
before entering the Marine Corps. He died September 13, 1965 in
Vietnam having attained the rank of Lance Corporal. He is buried
in the Thompson Falls City Cemetery.
Thomas, Roy Steven: Son of Fred Childs Thomas
and Ada Isabelle Cobb born November 26, 1946. He was living in
Whitepine when he entered the Army Reserves September 5, 1968. He
became a helicopter pilot. He died when his helicopter went down
under heavy land artillery fire in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam May
10, 1969. He is buried at the Whitepine Cemetery.
