SOCIETY OBJECTIVES

To promote the study of genealogical and historical research within
the State of Montana.

To encourage accuracy and thoroughness in research.

to encourage, motivate and instruct members in ethical principals, scientific
methods and effective techniques of research and to defend the standards
of genealogy from incompetent and disreputable persons.

To assemble and maintain computerized or other lists of records and
holdings of member societies which will help members and the public in
their research.

To promote conferences, seminars, and workshops on genealogical research
and other research as may be of assistance to members.

To encourage establishment of member societies of the state society
under the terms and conditions as the bylaws of the society may provide.

To promote and encourage member society projects to locate, index, and
preserve public and private genealogical records which will be available
to members and the public.

To provide a repository for such material of a genealogical nature as
people may wish to donate to the society - books, records, pictures, diaries,
Bibles, etc.

To achieve the foregoing objectives, funds may be raised and donations,
gifts, legacies, and bequests accepted.
