    William Andrews applied for his ticket of leave to be transferred to the Maitland district from Merton, enabling him to settle and farm in the Maitland area

    The Andrews and Wellard families settled as squatters on crown land near William Knox Child’s land, Mount Vincent Estate. They built slab huts and cleared and farmed the land
