Boley Walters and
Robert
Walters are brothers. Both were born in Franklin County, Georgia.
Robert
Walters appears to have moved into Indian Territory in Mississippi
shortly
after 1820. The area in which he lived became Yazoo Counnty; and,
later,
it became Attala County. I do not believe Robert moved, but that the
counties
just changed names for the area in which he lived.
On the 1825 tax
list, you
show "Robt. Watters". I believe this person to be the above Robert
Walters.
Boley has by this time left Yazoo County and does not appear on this
tax
list. Robert Walters and his family remained in Mississippi until 1835,
when they moved to East Texas, north of Tyler on the Sabine River. This
area was then known as Nacogdoches County, Texas, but became a part of
Smith County, Texas, in 1846.
I find that many
places have
identified my family name as Watters, Waters, etc. However, all the
accompanying
data has related to my relatives, Robert Walters, et al.
Robert Walters is
my great
grandfather and he is buried in the Redland Cemetery in Nacogdoches
County,
Texas. Born 1799 in Franklin County, Georgia; died 1865 in Nacogdoches
County, Texas. Lived from about 1820-1835 in Yazoo/Attala County,
Mississippi.
