Walthall, Mississippi The Annual Meeting of Locating School Board, July 27th 1914 Pursuant to the call of J. B. Scott, Supt. of Ed. the Locating School Board met July 27th 1914 in their regular session. First Day The day was spent in listening to requests of different citizens of the County and discussing matters in a general way. The petition of citizens asking that Starnes and Long Branch be reinstated and was carried over until Wednesday. Ordered that a colored school be established known as Rock Hill located in north end of Beat One not far from Cross Roads school house where a former colored school house had been burned. Second Day Different School interests were discussed by the Board. The request of Henry Morter and others asking that a line school be established with Grenada County was considered and the request granted, territory of said district being as shown on the adopted map. A colored school at New Prospect was established. * Third Day Ordered that the Hohenlinden colored school be moved to the northwest corner of section three on Willis Jenning's land. The consideration of the reestablishing of Starned and Long Branch was taken up and after a great deal of discussion Starnes was reestablished and Long Branch was located where Walthal and Maben Road crosses, South of Dave Strickland's. The Dancy School was enlarged to a little over twelve square miles as indicated on the map. A special School, named Pleasant Ridge, was located consisting of Sec. 2 and the east forth of sec. 3, and fractional sec. 5, and the eastern part of practional sec 6, Chickasaw survey. The Clarkson Public School district was enlarged to 12 square miles. *2nd day) Request of Sumner Holland and others was granted enlarging Sapa Public School district to 12 or more miles as indicated on the official map. Fourth Day Ordered that Pleasant Ridge school be consolidated with Mantee Public School. The Hutton Public School was located on the Maben and Cumberland public road between Tom Bland's mail box and forks of the Road at Jim Stalling's with the following territory, to wit Sec. 5, 6, 7, 8, 17, 19, 30 and west 1/2 of sec. 20, 29, T20, R11. Collins School was made a special reestablished with territory as shown on official map. *School map was carefully examined and adopted with whatever changes made at this meeting. On motion and seconded the Board finally adjourned July 30th 1914.
