My name is Sue Wright, the person responsible for Walthall County, Mississippi of the USGenWeb Project. Basically, my job is to maintain the page and to post queries and surname register entries. Please contact me with your suggestions for the page's contents, additional Pike County links, or to report broken links. Interest in the USGenWeb project and Walthall County has been tremendous and I have been contacted by a number of people who are just beginning their family research and are also interested in research advice. I hope that the expanded Other Genealogical Sources section, which includes resources for Beginners and Skill-Building, will provide guidance in these areas. | ||||

About Walthall CountyWalthall County, located in southwest Mississippi, was created from the eastern portion of Pike County and western portion of Marion County in 1910. Tylertown is the county seat with the towns of Lexie, Mesa and Darbun located within its borders.1 Among today's Walthall County residents are many descendants of the pioneer Pike County and Marion County families. Those researching Walthall County families will need to focus their pre-1910 research in either Pike County or Marion County. (Source: 1.
