I am trying to identify the parents, siblings, etc. of Laten Franklin ELLIOTT and Rebecca
Hardin STEELE who were married November 11, 1847 in Tippah Co. by a William COTTAM (or COTTON) Esq. I know that their first two children, Lucinda and Anna were born in MS in 1848 and 1850 respectively. After that, they took up residence in Polk Co., Missouri, where they are buried. I would Greatly appreciate any help,and will share any information that I have.

John Campbell and at least two of his brothers, Alexander Campbell and Gabriel Campbell, and Alfred Campbell, Alexander's son, moved from Middle Tennessee near Nashville and settled south of the Ridge Road in Tippah County. This road was named Salem and Nubbin Ridge Road, and is now Highway 72. John Campbell was made overseer of this road in 1842. All of his land lay north of this road. John Campbell was born March 14, 1810. He married December 14, 1837, to Elizabeth Jane Elliott, born August 28, 1817. Their children were Adaline Campbell, born October 5., 1838, died early in life; Ann Eliza, born November 23. 1839; William A. born January 14, 1842; John Daniel, born March 8, 1844, killed 1863 during the Civil War; James Franklin, born June 9, 1846; Elizabeth Jane, born August 12, 1848; Samuel Jackson, born October 3, 1851; Mary Carmichael, born July 28, 1854. I seek information on all of the above, their ancestors and descendants and I will gladly share my information with any interested party.

Looking for information on ROBERSON family, resident in Tippah Co., MS from ca. 1837-57. Thomas ROBERSON,b.1804, SC, m. Margaret Ann EMERSON, b.1807, SC. Probably married in TN, where they lived 1826-37. Several children born in Tippah Co: Elmira Frances (1837), William R. (1843), Martha (1844), Malinda (1848, Thomas W (1852). Also in Tippah Co. at the time were Thomas Roberson Sr's brother, William ROBERSON and his wife, Prudence. Two Roberson daughters are thought to have married and stayed behind in MS when family went to TX: Margaret (b.ca. 1833) and Addeline (b.ca. 1835). Addeline married a Rev. T.M. MONTGOMERY, family believed to be Methodist. Margaret Emerson Roberson's mother, MARY EMERSON (maiden name unknown) may also have died in MS before they migrated to TX (This is the same family Joe and Linda Lee are researching.
