On 22 of Oct 1848
The session of Mount Zion Congregation met at the church.  Elders A W Hill,  P Jackson, and E Prahain,  minister T A Walker.  A door being opened for the reception of members Mary E McLean,  Martha J McMillin,  Rachael O,  McLean,  Margaret E McLean,  Mary A McLean came forward and related their experience of grace were baptized and received in the communion of the Church.  Rachael O McLean, having  been baptised in infancy the session adjourned to meet at the church on Saturday before the 3rd Sabbath in November next.

The session met at Mount Zion present to adjournment.  Members pre T A Walker, minister  A W Hill,  P Jackson,  Elders. A door being opened for the reception of members Martha A Hill related an experience of Grace and having previously been
baptised was receieved into full communion of the church.  Session adjourned to meet on Saturday before the 3rd Sabbath in February 1849.

The Session having failed to meet according to previous appointment there was no other meeting until the session was called by the session clerk on the 14th of March 1850 members present E Graham,  P Jackson and A W Hill the session proceeded to appoint AW Hill  to represent this congregation in the next setting of Presbytery.  P Jackson his alternated there being no other business the session adjourned to meet on Wednesday before the 2nd Sabbath in April next.  Concluded with prayer.

The session having failed to meet according to adjournment met on sabbath morning the14th of April.  Members presant E Graham,  P Jackson,  A W Hill.  Where upon Bro Graham was called to the chair.  The session then declared the congregation vacant and Bro.  J J cooper being present proposed to take charge of the congregation as pastor for next twelve months and to preach one sabbath in each month for which service the session agrees to remunerate him as fare as is in their power to do.  There being no further business that session adjourned to meet on Saturday before the 3rd sabbath in May next.

The session met at the church persuant to adjournment.  Members presant Bro Cooper, Graham,  Jackson,  and Hill.  A door being opened for the reception of members,  N H Wright and Dorothy, his wife,  gave a relation of their experience of grace and having previously been baptised there were received into the communion of the church.  The session remained open till next day being sabbath 19th of May A D 1850 when Mary Duncan was received in to the he communion of the church by recommendations. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper was administered on the same day  Bro.  Cooper to the congregation.  The session rose informally.

The session met on the 6th day of August A D 1850.  Members presant Bro Cooper, Graham,  Jackson and Hill. A door being opened for the reception of members,  Mary Walden (Malden?),  Alexander McMillin,  Wm F Crumkonce,  John A Pulley gave a relation of their experience of gave and was all baptized and received in to the he communion of the church.
The session rose with out adjournment and was carried on the 9th of August 1850.  Members present Bro Cooper,  Graham,  Jackson,  and Hill.  A door being opened for the reception of members Benjamin R Krauldin (Mauldin) and T M Crumb gave a relation of their experience of grace and was baptized and received into the communion of the church.  The session rose as before.

The session met at the church the 11th of August 1850.  A door being opened for the reception of members  Gemsima Crunk (Crumb?),  WM K Walker,  and John Simpson gave a relation of their experience of grace and was baptized.  Except W R Walker whose baptism was deferred and was welcomed into the communion of the church.  The session adjourned to meet Saturday before the 4th Sabbath.

The session met persuant to adjournment.  Members present Bro Hill, Graham,  Jackson opened by prayer to session proceeded to appoint E Graham to represent this session in the next setting of the presbytery and it approved his appointment.
The session rose and commenced on the next day being the 25th of August 1850. Members present Bro Cooper,  Hill,  Graham,  and Jackson a door being opened for the reception of members J W Paine,  Elija and Susan his wife,,  John H Counce,  Robert K Hill,  P B Welch,  and Tish Moarse gave a relation of their experience grace and was all baptized except Sith Moarse who had been previously baptised and were received into the communion of the church.  Margaret Moarse joined the church by recommendation. Session adjourned to meet Saturday before the 3rd Sabbath in September.

The session met persuant to adjournment.  Members present Bro Cooper,  Hill, Graham, and Jackson.  A door being opened for the reception of members Mary Ann Wright, Mister Renfro,  Lance R Hill,  Joseph M Williams and Isaac J Pollock gave a relation oftheir experience of grace and were baptized and received in to the communion of the church.  The session then rose without permission and was convened on the 17th A door being opened for the reception of members  Nelson Jackson,  and Mattison,  M Williams gave a relation of their experience of grace and was baptized and received into the church.  The session rose as before and met on the 8th.  A door was opened for the reception of members Joseph Kinada (?),  John Pollock,  Andrew Pollock,  Robert Pollock,  Wm William,  Susan K Wright,  Nancy E. Paine,  and Nancy Ackshaw gave arelation of their experience of grace and was baptized.  Except John J Robert Pollock who had been previously baptized and was received in to the communion of the church.  The session adjourned to meet Saturday  before the 4th Sabbath in October concluded withPrayer.

According to the Tippah County Land Deed Book E p 173 Joseph W Crunk was Coronor in  1843.  William was brother ot Joseph both were sons of Ira Crunk.

Having heard slanderous reports on Bro.  Alexander McMillin and Joseph Renfro. Appointed Bro.  Jackson,  Welch,  a committee to converse with and sight them before the session.  The session adjourned to meet on the Saturday the 8th day of Feb.  A D 1851

The session met persuant to  adjournment.  Members presant Bro.  Jackson,  Welch, Paine, and Hill.  The committee to who was review the bisness of conversing with Bro. McMillin and Jackson reported  conversation and that Bro McMillin gave satisfactionand that Bro. Simpson treated the conversation with contempt.  Whereupon the session agreed to suspend the said Simpson from contempt.  The session adjourned to meet on the 8th day of March A D 1851.

Session met Saturday before the 4h Sabbath in May 1851.  Bro Welch delegated to presbytery reported compliance.  When the congregation proceed to elected by ballot tow additional elders whereupon Brother Conner and Mauldin were elected.  Session remained opened until  next day when the Brethren elected on the previous day to the eldership was set apart by prayer to the duties of that office.  The sacraments of the Lord’s Supper was administered to the congregation by Bro Cooper.  Naybors and Lambert.   Session being advised of unchristian conduct from John Pully appointed Welch and Graham a mmitted to convene with Bro Pully and report tot he session at tis next setting on Saturday the 14th of June and rose.

Session to meet according to adjournment and was called together on the Saturday  the 21st of June.  Members present Bro.  Graham,  Will,  Welch,  Maulden,  Conner,  and Paine.  The committee appointed to converse with Bro. Pully report complyance and that Bro Pully made all necessary acknowledgments.  Session being informed of disorderlyconduct on S R Hill,  and J McWilliams appointed a committee to converse with and cite Bro. S R Hill before the session and Bro Hill and Welch  to converse with and cite Bro McWilliams.  Upon motion of the resignation and morion of Bro.  Hill  Bro.  Paine was
elected clerk of this congregation.  Session rose to meet on Saturday the 5th July.

Session met according to adjournment.  Members present Bro.  Graham,  Hill,  Nelson, Mauldin,  and Paine upon motion Bro,  Graham was called to the chair and opened the session by prayer.  The committee appointed to cite Bro.   S R Hill reported complyance and Bro Hill appeared  before the session,  made full and satisfactory acknowledgment where upon he was forgiven by the session.  The committee to cite Bro McWilliams report failure where upon Bro.  Hill and Mauldin were appointed a committee to cite Bro McWilliam to appear before the session on Saturday the 18th of July and session rose to
meet accordingly. Closed by prayer.

Session remained opened until next day.Sept 28.  Members present as on yesterday.  A door being opened Sylvia,  a colored woman, came forward and gave a relation of her experience and was baptized by pouring by J J Cooper.  session rose informally.

W R Walker,  T J Conner and J W Paine were appointed a committee to visit and converse with Bro Pully and report at the next sitting of the session to be on the Saturday preceding the fifth Sabbath in May next session. Session met according to adjournment.  Members present Bros  J J Cooper,  Pastor.  A W Hill,  G Jackson,  B R Mauldin,  T H Conner,  and J W Paine.  The visiting committee to Bro John Pully reported complyance and that Bro Pully confessed the charges but shewed no signs of repentance.  Where upon it was ordered that the clerk give him a written notice specifying the charge and requesting him to appear before the session at Mt Zion on the second saturday in June next at six o’clock PM.  Session remained opened until next day.

A door was opened for the reception of members when James and Martha  R Gully,  Margaret J Bradley,  Lusannah R Stevens,  Lion and Martha Holly,  Edward and Elizabeth Hawkins,  came forward and were received.  Lion and Martha Holly and Edward and Elizabeth Hawkins be recommendation and the rest by experience and were baptized except M J Bradley(Having been baptized in infancy).  by William Crawford bypouring.  Session remained opened.

Tuesday 14th
Session met.  Members presant as before. A door was again opened when  W A and Cyrena Roffe,  David Steven and Nancey C Crouch came forward and were received,  the two former by recommendation and the two latter by experience and were baptized byWilliam Bradford by pouring.  Session remained opened.

Thursday September 16,  1852
Session met. Members presant as before.  A door was opened for the reception of members when Charles J Allen,  William S Singleton,  David W Hawkins,  a and Juda Coley came forward and were received. C J Allen by recommendation and the rest byexperience.  Session remained opened.

October 10th 1852
Session met.  Members presant J J Cooper,  A W Hill,  G Jackson,  T J Conner,  B R Mauldin,  J W Paine.  A door was opened for the reception of members when Ephraim McLean came forward gave a relation of his experience and was received by the session. Members present J J Cooper,  A W Hill,  G Jackson,  B R Mauldin,  and J W Paine.  Opened by prayer the committee appointed in the case of Bro  L B Hill reported complyance and that he shoed no signs of repentance that he had been duly notified to appear before the session.  That he refused and gave session leave to act on his case in his absence.  Whereupon it was ordered by the session that he be suspended for contumacy until he shall show signs of repentance.  Upon motion,  the following resolution was papered Resolved,  that in complyance with a request of Presbytery at it last session,  we appoint quarterly sessional meetings of this session to commence on Saturday at 4 oclock before the second Sabbath in July next  and quarterly thereafter.  Session closed by prayer.

J W Paine delegate to the Presbytery was called on to report whose report complyanse by his alternate A W Hill for T H Conner,  delegate to Synod reported his representative complyance (too faded)...On motion session took recess until 10 o clock Sabbath morning. Session having failed to meet according to appointment on Saturday April the 12th at its regular quarterly term.  Members presant John J Cooper,  Moderator,  A W Hill,  David McElwain,  N H Wright  and J W Paine.  Absent B R Mauldin.  J W Paine was appointed to receive the report of B R Mauldin as delegate to Presbytery which report is as follows.  Failed to attend in consequence of inclement weather which was reviewed the following resolution were passed (viz) 
1st Resolved>  The elders of this congregation shall visit the families of said congregation at least as often as one every six months for the purpose of advancing  vital godliness through out our church and country
2nd That any member or members of this congregation that shall hereafter sign a petition for the purpose of establishing a grocery or dram shop in our county shall be considered guilty of immoral conduct and will be dealt with accordingly.

Saturday 12th July 1856
Session met regular term presant John J Cooper,  Mod.  A W Hill,  N H Wright,  B R Mauldin,  J W Paine absent,  David McElwain,  on motion,  A W Hill,  J W Paine,  and Scion Holly were appointed a committee to converse with Bro David Stevens in relation to rumor of unchristian conduct and N H Wright and B R Mauldin a committee to converse with sister Judy McMillian formerly Judy Coley on the same subject.  David McElwain was elected delegate to next Presbytery and B R Mauldin alternate.  Session adjourned informally.

Saturday October 11,  1856
The regular quarterly meeting of he session of the Mt Zion Congregation met persuant to adjournment.  Consecrated by prayer. Members present J J Cooper,  Moderator.  J McElwain,  B R Mauldin,  W K(R) Reed.  Bro Mauldin reported in behalf of a
committee of which he was one to converse with Judy (Ruda) McMillin.  concerning a charge of immoral conduct.  to which she acknowledged and showed penitence and acknowledged he was sorrow.  She had acted in the manner she had and would do do no more.  The session having heard a rumor that Brother Coley (Gaylor,  Gaylon) had been guilty of getting drunk and appointed a committee to visit Bro.  Gaylon and examine into the case the committee appointed was B R Mauldin,  D M McElwain,  W K Reed, and R D Reed requested to assist.  Bro W K Reed reported to have attended Synod,  accordingly
to appointment.  Report was received.  Recess until 10 1/2 o clock tomorrow.  Recess out Members presant as on yesterday.  A door opened for the reception of members,  Lewis Renfrow,  Grant Holly,  Ritch Ralph Hawkins,  Wm Hawkins,  and
Felop G Irvin came forward and gave a relation of their experience of grace and were baptized except Lewis Renfrow he was received into the communion of the church. There being no further business the session adjourned to meet Saturday in September. 

Saturday September 15th 1856
Session convened by request of the Moderator.  Members presant John J Cooper,  Mod. A W Hill,  B R Mauldin,  David McElwain,  (McElwain could also be spelled McIlwain) N H Wright,  and J W Pain,  Bro William Norton a member of the Ripley Session being presant was invited to take a seat with us.  A door being opened preparoty to the communion of the Lord’s Supper.  W B Largent (Sargent),  Carson R Hopper,  John B Presley,  Samuel G Reed,  Alexander Patten and Elizabeth Singleton came forward gave a relation of their experience and were received.  W B Largent and Carson  R Hopper
were baptized by sprinkling,  J B Presley,  L G Reed,  Alexander Patten were baptised in infancy.  Elizabeth Singleton not yet satisfied as to mode.  Recess until 4 PM. Recess over.  Session met.  Members present as before. David McIlwain delegate to Presbytery having not attended offered his excuse which was sustained.  B R Mauldin,  alternate,  offered his excuse for non attendance at Presbytery which was also sustained.  A W Hill and J W Paine members of the committee to converse with David Stevens reported complyance  with their duties and that bro David Stevens confessed that the truth of the charge and prayed to he dealt with as the session might see proper.  Whereupon it was resolved that bro David Stevens be suspended and
that proclamation of the same be made from the pulpit.  B R Mauldin and M H Wright committee to converse with sister Judy McMillian reports that said committee has sought an opportunity to discharge their duties but failed.  Whereupon they were continued as said committee and Edward Hawkins, added also to said committee and required to report to the next session.  J W Paine,  clerk of the congregation offered his resignation as clerk which was received and A W Hill elected to fill the vacancy.  J W Paine prayed a letter of dismission and recommendation for himself,  Eliza Ann Paine,  Nancey,  E M
Paine and Emily L Paine.  Which was granted and the clerk ordered to issue. Recess until ten o clock to morrow morning.

Session met presant as on yesterday.  A door being opened Nancey Renfro and May D Renfro came forward and joined by letter.  Finas E Reed,  James Y Reed,  Richmond P Reed,  William H H Renfro,  Martha Irvin,  and Termperance Irvin came forward gave a relation of their experience of grace and were received.  The last three names baptised by sprinkling by J J Cooper.  The three former having be baptized in infancy.
Recess untill Monday morning 10 o clock.
Monday Sept 15th 1856 Recess out.  Session met.  Presant as on yesterday except bro Norton Lester, Mary Carter asked for a letter of dissmission and recommendation which was granted and the clerk ordered to issue.  Recess until Saturday Sept 20th.

Presant as before.  Sister Mary Cooper came forward and joined by recommendation. Bro J J Cooper called upon the congregation for an elder to accompany him at the next sitting of Synod whereupon the congregation was called upon by session to elect two members of their body as ruling Elders in this congregation.  Whereupon brothers William K Reed and Robert K Hill were elected to that office.  bro W K reed having been hereto fore an Elder in out church was installed in this congregation and Bro R K Hill was sat apart by prayer to that office.  Bro.  J J Cooper as this congregation for an Elder to accompany him at the next sitting of the Synod.  Where upon bro W R Reed was chosen as said delegate and B R Mauldin alternate.   Session adjourned informally.

The quarterly meeting of the session of Mount Zion Congregation having failed to meet at the regular appointed time from the inclimmecny of the weather have assembled  this evening Saturday the 14th of Feb 1857.
 The session being constituted by prayer.  Members present A W Hill, moderator. Presented resignation.  R Mauldin,  William K Reed,  David McIlwain on the day of our last session a committee appointed to visit Brother Gaylon on the subject  of a wide report which was repeated through the neighborhood.  The committee discharged theduty reviewed in their report which report was received.  Brother Gaylon satisfied the committee on the subject. 
 On motion,  the session proceeded to elect a member to represent this congregation in our next presbytery to be held  at Mt Zion Tippah County Miss. Whereupon Brother N H Wright was elected.  Brother William K Reed alternate to meet on Friday night preceding the third  Sunday in March.  Session recess until next Saturday Evening at 2 oclock.
 Recess out.  Members presant as before.  The session having been informed that Bro Gaylon had been quietly getting drunk again.  On motion,  the session appointed B McIlwain to site Bro Gaylon to appear before them on Saturday the 7th March 1857 session adjourned to meet accordingly.

Session March the 7th 1857
Session met pursuant to call members presant,  J J Cooper,  Mod.  B R Mauldin,  D McIwain,  and W K Reed.  Constituted by prayer Bro.  McIlwain reported complyance with the order of the former session to summon Wm Gaylon to appear and answer to certain charges of the immortality the said Gaylon failing to attend but forwarding a note acknowledging his guilt as charged and requesting session to deal with him as it might think proper.  On motion of Bro.  McIlwain session proceeded by unanimous vote to suspend said Wm Gaylon from all the rights and privileges of membership in said congregation until he shows or brings forth fruit to meete for repentance.  Session adjourned till session in cause.   Concluded by prayer.

Mt Zion,  April 25th 1857
Session met pursuant to adjournment.  Members present  Bro D McIlwain,  Mauldin,  W K Reed,  and Hill.  Bro.  I McIlwain was appointed .  Had protives (?) opened by prayer. On motion Bro Rep Reada Graham and McIlwain appointed a committee to converse with Bro.  J H Cooper and N Jackson relative to the rumors offered in session of the church and report  to the night meeting of the session. On motion the session had Recess till to morrow 10 oclock.
Recess out.  Session continued.  Had some actions but had recess until Thursday the 9th of May next.  Recess out session met.  Members presant Paul Lambert,  Mod.  N H Wright,  B R Mauldin,  D McIlwain,  W K Reed,  and A W Hill.  constituted by prayer. The above committee made report which was received and having failed to report the object of this session also said committed being instructed by the session with case of a failure to site Bro.  J H Cooper to appear before the session at this meeting the said committee having failed to give Bro.  J H Cooper a legal selection there ` was no further action in the case.  Then the session clerk proceeded to site J H Cooper to appear before the session at Mt Zion Tippah County, Miss on Saturday the 27th of June next to answer the charge.  Sat forthe  in said situation.  The committee in the case of B N Jackson reported him sick and better.  Session action there being no further business session adjourned to meet as above.  Conclude with prayer.

 Session met pursuant to adjournment.  Constituted by prayer.  Member presant Samuel Lambert,  W K Reed,  B R Mauldin,  A W Hill,  D McIlwain.  The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved.  The case of Bro J H Cooper was taken up and he refusing to answer any question proposed by the session  he was suspended from the congregation of the church until what time he can manifest a Christian spirit and bring forth fruits meete for repentance.  There e being no further business session adjourned to meet Saturday before the fourth Sabbath in July at 2 oclock.  Concluded by prayer.

Reed and A W Hill.   On motion the minutes of the former session was read and approved.  The session Mod produced a note requesting letters from the following person to wit;  Margaret D Cooper,  Mary B Cooper,  and Elizabeth J Cooper which request was granted and the clerk ordered to  issue.  There being no further business session adjourned.  Till session in course.

Mt Zion August the 22nd,  1857
Session as above constituted by prayer.  Members presant D McIlwain,  B R Mauldin,  W K Reed,  and A W Hill. On motion Bro.  McIlwain was chosen mod protem. The session proceeded to elect a representative to Presbytery to be held in the city of
Corinth which is to convene on Friday preceeding the 3rd Sabbath in Sept next.  Where upon Bro McIlwain was elected and Bro A W Hill his alternate.  Bro.  R K Hill had an application by proxy to be release from serving as Ruling Elder in this congregation which was granted.  There being no further business, session  adjourned to meet Saturday preceeding the 4th Sabbath in Sept next.  Concluded with prayer.

October 25th 1857.  Session was called to gether.  Members presant,  Samuel Lambert, N H Wright,  B R Mauldin,  D McIlwain,  W K Reed,  constituted by prayer.  Elizabeth Singleton whose baptism had been deferred came forward and was baptized by the pastor,  Bro.  Lambert which she and Mary Singleton called for  letters of dismission and recommendation which was granted.  There being no further business session adjourned till session in course.

When session adjourned to meet Saturday before the fourth Sabbath in February next.
