BROWNING, WOODS posted by Susie James on Wednesday, March 15, 2006

In Magnolia Garden Cemetery at Paynes, Tallahatchie County, there's a listing for an Arthur D. Browning, b. 11-25-1897, died 12-05-1962. Could this man have been the Arthur Browning who disappeared from Carroll County, Miss., in the 1920s? He was county tax assessor at the time he disappeared. Many legends exist as to his departure. The Carroll County Arthur Browning was a World War I veteran. My grandfather's sister, May Belle James Woods, is buried also in this same Tallahatchie County Cemetery.
