BLACKBURN, STEVENS, TALBERT, TRUITT posted by Mary Stakias on Tuesday, August 7, 2001

My grandfather, Norris Campbell Blackburn was born in Tillatoba in 1898 to Willie Joel and Mary King Stevens Blackburn. Willie Joel's parents were Dr. Joel C. and Virginia Ann Talbert Blackburn - Virginia Ann was from the Michael D. Talbert and Truitt lines. Dr. Joel C. Blackburn was a dentist and was supposed to have died abt 1875 from a water moccasin bite. I would like to know if someone could find an obituary or reference to his death. His father, James D. Blackburn, moved in to care for the grandchildren as Virginia Ann remarried. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

TODD posted by Kay Manzolillo on Thursday, August 16, 2001

Interested in Curtis Todd and Harold Todd, buried at Ebenezer Cemetary in Webb. They were my great uncles. Dates in Tallahatchie County cemetary records do not match those of family records. Were these dates taken directly from grave markers?

Answer: Yes, the survey was done from the grave markers in the cemetery.

CHARLES P. GADBERRY was on the Tallahatchie County Board of Supervisors/Police in the 1840s. Mrs. Wilshire's book shows him as being an appraiser/executor of several probate situations. He apparently was from Spartanburg County, S. C. We would be grateful for any scrap of data about him. Gratefully, Harold C. Fisher, [email protected]

BURLESON, EWING, KERR posted by Cyndi Curran on Monday, October 8, 2001

I am looking for info on the EWING family, specifically R. C. EWING. She married Z. M. KERR August 1865 in Pontotoc County. By 1870 they were in Tallahatchie County & were members of New Hope Church. I wonder if R.C. is connected the the family of Charles EWING, as one of his daughters - Martha - married Laban S. KERR, brother of Z. M. (Zenas Mortimer) KERR. I should add that until today, my information from family was that Zenas Mortimer KERR married R.C. (Ruth Caroline) BURLESON, so there may have been a prior marriage or something. I appreciate any help! Thanks!
