Robinson, James Tomison, William Hennis and Green Berry Parker Families of Jasper County, Mississippi

 

 

Jasper County,  Mississippi - 1850

My Robinson line starts in Jasper MS in 1843, the year my 3rd great grandfather was born. By 1850, William Franklin and his 2 brothers, Ransom and John, were living with the Green Berry and Ellender [nee Thompson (my guess...maybe Tomison instead of Thompson)] Parker Family. The boys appear to be orphaned. There are two other groups of orphaned Robinson children in Jasper in 1850. With the help of other researchers, we have proven they are not related to my boys. Also living with the family is Easter Parker. She is listed as William Franklin Robinson�s grandmother in the 1870 Census. Other than that, I do not know the boys' relation to Green Berry and Ellender. The Jasper County records from this era have burned. I have no idea who WF and his brother's parents are.

 

On the next page of the census is the �Tannison� family. The Tannison family is actually the James Tomison and Charlotte UNK ( well, we think it is Ridgeway) family. Living with them are some of their children: Malissa Diadema and Robert Roan Tomison. Soon after 1850, Malissa marries William Hennis and Robert marries Charlotte Williams in Jasper County. We have 3 letters from Robert Roan sent to another brother giving the marriage details.

 

Houston, Texas- 1860

In 1860, William Franklin Robinson is in Houston, TX living with the Robert Roan and Nancy (nee Williams) Tomison family. His brother Ransom is living a couple of houses down with the William A and Melissa (nee Tomison) Hennis family. Melissa is Robert Roan's sister. No sign of John Robinson. Later on, William Franklin Robinson's son, Ransom Henry Robinson, married Robert Roan Tomison's granddaughter, Charlotte Wilkins. Other than that, I have not established a Robinson-Tomison connection.

 

Bell County, Texas - 1868

In 1868, WF and his first wife, name unknown, give birth to their only child, Ransom Henry Robinson. I do not have any information pertaining to her name or death information. I am not even sure Ransom was living with William Franklin as he shows in the 1870 census living with Easter Parker...the same family from the 1850 census. 14 Feb 1870, WF marries Nancy Emaline Adams. They have many children listed below. Many of my Tomison and Robinson family lived in Bell, Mills and McLennan Counties.

The Parkers and Tomisons seem to have migrated from VA, SC, AL, MS and then to TX. I am thinking there was probably a contingent of Robinsons as well.
