MILTON URIAH MOUNGER, of Collins, was born September 13, 1867, at Pleasant Hill, Jasper County, Mississippi, the son of William Harris Mounger and wife Ardelissa (Terral) Mounger. His father was a Confederate soldier, served in the 27th Mississippi regiment, Walthall's Brigade; participated in the battles of Murfreesboro, Perryville and Chickamauga, and was captured at Chickamauga. He was the son of Judge Henry Mounger.

James Stevens Terral, his maternal grandfather, was the son of Edward Young Terral, a Revolutionary soldier from South Carolina.

His paternal ancestors were from Wales. Judge Henry Mounger, his paternal grandfather, came to Paulding, Mississippi, from Georgia, about 1820, and was of French descent.

Mr. Mounger's early education was obtained from the old field schools of Jasper County. He attended the University of Mississippi, sessions 1885-86 to 1888-89; completed the Sophomore year; studied law under his uncle. Judge S. H. Terral, who was afterwards Supreme Judge of Mississippi, and was admitted to the bar in September, 1892; began practice in Ellisville, Mississippi, in October, 1892. Located at Augusta. Mississippi, where he practiced several years; removed in the fall of 1899 to Collins. Mississippi, where he has since practiced; served as City Attorney of Collins. 1906 and 1907. He is a Democrat, and a Steward in the Methodist Church; is a member of the following fraternal orders: Masonic, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of the World; was married to Alma Theodora McKenzie, at Enon, Perry County, June 28, 1908, daughter of Malcomb and Rachel Candace McKenzie.

Mrs. Mounger's ancestors were from Scotland. Her grandfather Myers was at one time Representative in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Mr. Mounger was elected to the State Senate, November 7, 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Mounger have three children. William Malcomb, Dwinwen Milton and Carrolton. Senator Mounger is a member of the following committees: Judiciary, Universities and Colleges, Municipalities (Chairman), Constitution, County Affairs, Public Works.
