Below are the bible records which belonged to Walter Harold Hubert Grierson, my great grandfather. This represents the Bible record that belonged to my great-grandfather: Walter Harold GRIERSON.

Walter [Harold] GRIERSON of Escatawpa and Maggie A. IKERD of Escatawpa, MS, married on 11 day of July 1894 at W. F. Ikerd's by Rev. G.R. Ellis: Witnesses W. F. IKERD and Eveline DAVIS.
 
Walter Harold GRIERSON and Cordie Cordelia PRUITT 2nd wife born March 27, 1880 in Helicon, [Crenshaw County, Alabama] daughter of Sam PRUITT & Callie May united in marriage August 30, 1906, Moss Point, Miss.

DEATHS:
      Mrs. Laura E. IKERD July 11th, 1894; she was wife of William Fred Ikerd.
      Miss Stella E. IKERD August 6th, 1900

      Master W.W. GRIERSON died Jan. 28, 1903 [Walter & Maggie's son]
      Mrs. Maggie A. GRIERSON, Age 25 1/2 years died June 01, 1904;
      she was Marguerite Almire Ikerd, married Walter Harold Grierson.
      Keith Oswald GRIERSON age 6, died July 15th, 1918
      Mrs. M[artha] T[eresa] [Alice] (nee [Seeley] GRIERSON Age 83, Died April 12th, 1918 
      W[alter] H[arold] GRIERSON Age 58 Died Aug. 5, 1931
      Mr. Carl H[arold] GRIERSON Age 59 Died April 17th, 1954.

      Nahomia (sic) Leigh GRIERSON April 7th, 1897; she was Naomi Leigh Grierson,
      married Mr. Watson Sibley Ricks.

      Walter William GRIERSON January 19th, 1903
      Walter "Reuel" GRIERSON July 8th, 1907

      Roslin (sic) September 9th, 1910; she was Rosalyn Mildred Grierson
      Keith Oswald GRIERSON May 27th, 1912
      Cordie Cadelia (sic) Pruitte (sic) March 27th, 1880. - she was Cordie Cordelia Pruitt.

      Keith Oswald GRIERSON Died July 15th, 1918

Ikard Family

Zion Cemetery 

Standing in front of the government issued tombstone of William Fred Ikerd, located in the Zion Methodist Cemtery,

Escatawpa, Jackson County, Mississippi to his immediate left is his wife, Laura Thomson Ikerd, born 16th October,

1849; died 21st May, 1894.  William Fred Ikerd, born 2nd April, 1850; died 22nd February, 1937. 

To the left of her, are two of her daughters, Marguerite Almira Ikerd, born on 31st October, 1878 in Three Rivers,
Jackson County, Mississippi, who died on the 1st June, 1904 in Escatawpa, Jackson County, Mississippi; ~
right next
to Maggie is her sister, Effie Estelle Ikerd, aka Stella E. Ikerd.  
 
Marguerite "Maggie" Almira Ikerd was the 1st wife of Walter Harold Hubert Grierson, born February 22nd, 1872,
Three Rivers, Jackson County, Mississippi.  Walter died on August, 5th, 1931, Moss Point, Jackson County, Mississippi;
& was buried in the Union Cemetery, with his youngest son, Keith Oswald Grierson.  Walter Grierson's 2nd wife, Cordie
Cordelia Pruitt was born on March 27th, 1880, in Helicon, Crenshaw County, Alabama, & was the dau. of Samuel
Pruitt & Callie Mae Dickey.
 
Effie Estelle IKERD, who was born on 24th December, 1880, Three Rivers, Jackson County, Mississippi;
was buried at the Zion Methodist Cemetery in Escatawpa.
 
A note on Walter Harold Hubert Grierson, he was the son of John William Walter Grierson II, born June 12th, 1819. 
John & his wife, Martha Teresa Alice Seeley are buried at the Union Cemetery.  Cordie Cordelia (Pruitt) Grierson
actually died in Garfield, Emmanuel County, Georgia and was actually buried there.  Walter and his son, Keith are
the only ones interred in that particular plot, but the marker commemorates all three of them.

  • There is something written about Susan Jones and the date 1899 written, but unreadable.
