Issaquena Genealogy and History Project: The Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad

The Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad ran through southern Issaquena County with Valley Park being on the line. Benjamin J Bullard was section foreman before J.C. Newman Sr. The Bullards came to Mississippi in early 1900's from Kentucky. Benjamin Bullard was the section foreman at Egremont, Kelso, Valley Park and Midnight. These pictures were sent to C.B. Newman by Mrs. Alice Bullard Wright, Bullard's daughter. The photographs include railroad construction, the section crew near Valley Park, a train wreck near Valley Park and the train porter who rode the train through Valley Park.

The photographs below are from the C.B. "Buddy" Newman photograph collection.
