Horatio Sprague Eustis Biography

Horatio Sprague7 Eustis (Abraham6, Abraham5, Benjamin4, Benjamin3, William2, William1) was b. Dec. 25, 1811, at Newport, R.I. He m. May 10, 1838, Catharine, dau. of Henry Chotard, of Natchez, Miss. He d. Sept. 4, 1858 at his plantation, Issaquena Co., Miss. His widow d. at New Orlenas, Feb. 12, 1877.

Horatio graduated Harv. Coll. 1830. Studied law, and had an extensive law practice in Natchez, Miss., but afterwards became a planter. Children, all b. at Natchez, Miss.:

Henry Chotard, b. Jan. 29, 1840

Horatio, b. June 6, 1841; killed in the war of Rebellion, 1864. He entered H.C. 1857, and left his sophomore year.

Cartwright, b. Nov. 4, 1842

Richard, b. May 11, 1844; killed in the war of Rebellion, 1864. He entered H.C. in 1860 but left when the war broke out.

Fenwick, b. July 3, 1846

Arthur, b. July 10, 1848

Frances, b. Feb. 11, 1850

Estelle, b. Feb. 1, 1852, died young.

Norman, b. Dec. 13, 1853

Catharine, b. Sept. 2, 1857
