Petition
To the Honorable Commissioner of Claims, Under the Act of Congress of March 3, 1871, Washington, D.C. the petition of Benjamin B. Fore, administrator of Charles J. Fore, deceased respectfully represents that he is a citizen of the United States and resides at present in the county of Issaquena, Mississippi on Deer Creek about 12 miles east of Tallula, Issaquena. That he has a claim against the United States for cotton, meat, corn and supplies taken from the “Cunard” Plantation located where petition resides.

Total$10,300
That all the items in the above schedule were of the full value therein set forth and were taken from decedent of your petitioner for the use of and were used by the United States army, a part of a corps or division of General Sherman's command, during the spring of 1863.
That no voucher, receipts or other writing were given.
That Charles J. Fore, deceased was the original owner of said claim and that he departed this life about the __ of Jany. AD 1866
Wherefore your petitioner pray for such action of your Honorable Commission as may be deemed just and proper.

Benjamin B. and Charles J. Fore were brothers and the sons of Green Peter and Mary Frances Fore. Green Peter Fore was born about 1786, the son of James and Alsley Fore. Children of Green Peter Fore included: Charles J. (born ca. 1800 in VA, died 1866 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana), Benjmain Branch (born ca. 1814, died 18 July 1871 in Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi), Green C. (born about 1812), Simon P. (born about 1810, died 12 March 1852 in Copiah County, Mississippi), William (born about 1816), (born April 1, 1818, died January 15, 1891, Scott County, Mississippi).
