Oct. 22 1863 Joined 5th Regiment (Colonel J. Z. George's Regiment), Chalmer's Div.
3 Nov. Attack on Colliersville
4 Dec. Engagement at Wolf Creek Bridge.
Jan. 1864 Regiment under Col. Jeff E. Forrest.
Feb. Okolona campaign, where Col. Forrest and Lt. Col. Barksdale were killed.
Mar.-Apr. With Forrest on the Tennessee raid.
12 Apr. Assault on Fort Pillow.(Regt. under Lt.Col. Wiley M. Reed)
12 May Lt. Col. N. Wickliffe in command of 5th, assigned to McCulloch's Brigade, Forrest's Cavalry.
10 - 15 July Battle of Harrisburg.
Aug. With Wade's Brigade: Contesting Hatch's advance on Oxford. Heavy Skirmishing on 22nd, and fought dismounted on the 23rd at Abbeville.
8 Oct. With Chalmers and escort, operating within five miles of Memphis.
Nov. Assigned to Rucker's Brigade (Forrest's Cavalry)
17 Nov.  Crossed Tenn. River at Florence. Engaged in skirmishes for several days along Shoal Creek.
23 Nov. Engaged Capron's Brigade at Henryville, taking 65 prisoners.
24 Nov. Chased Capron into Columbia, taking 30 more prisoners.
24-28 Nov.  Skirmishing around Columbia.
28 Nov. Attacked head of Federal column near Springhill.
30 Nov. Battle of Franklin. (assault on entrenched lines)
3 - 6 Dec. In Position on Hillsboro Pike near Nashville.
7-14 Dec. Blockadeing Cumberland River at the Charlotte Pike. Constant fighting against gunboats on the river and cavalry on the pike.
15-16 Dec. Guarding Granny White Pike for the withdrawal of the army. Heavy losses in hand to hand fighting. Rucker wounded and captured.
17-28 Dec. Under Forrest in the famous rearguard action, which protected Hoods army from total annihilation.
Feb. 1865 Assigned to Armstrong's Brigade.
2 Apr. Battle of Selma
7 May Surrendered at Forsyth, Ga.
