George County, MS is located in the South East Corner of MS. 
It is bordered by
Mobile County, AL to the east, and the Mississippi counties of Perry and
Stone to the west,
Greene County  to the north, and Jackson County to the south.

George County was formed in 1910 from Jackson and Green Counties.

 


 

George County is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The centennial celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Lucedale, MS, the county seat. Events begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Fun Run and end at 4 p.m. with a parade. There will be exhibits, demonstrations, music, family and church history tables, centennial souvenirs, and tours of the historic courthouse and downtown Lucedale from 9 a.m. until noon. A cake cutting event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with Senator Thad Cochran as guest speaker. For more information contact Juanita Webster at 601 947-2650.

the Pascagoula, Red, and Black rivers.
