Welcome
The Clay County Historical and Genealogical Society meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September through May, with the exception of combined November/December and January/February meetings, at the Bryan Public Library on Commerce Street in West Point, Mississippi. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. Membership dues are $15.00 per person ($20.00 per couple) per year (September - August).
The Clay County Historical and Genealogical Society is an organization dedicated to the study and investigation of genealogical history and records. We receive and collect genealogical and historical records, depositing those records in libraries and archives, thereby preserving them and making those genealogical and historical records available to the public.
If you have any genealogical and/or historical information concerning Clay County Mississippi and its families, we would love to hear from you! To submit your information to the Clay County Historical and Genealogical Society, please refer to the submission guidelines found below.
Submissions to the Clay County Historical and Genealogical Society:
We welcome historical and genealogical material pertaining to Clay County. We are interested in diaries, military records, church records, cemetery records, courthouse records, old newspaper items, photographs, etc.
Note: Information should not be from books currently in print.
- Original Records (family bible records, wills, deeds, etc.):
Photocopy of the original, plus a transcription, should be provided when possible.
- Family Charts:
We will catalogue family charts with ancestors and descendants from Clay County and its parent counties, which include Chickasaw, Oktibbeha, Lowndes, and Monroe.Please send your material by e-mail to Beth Calvert
