Visiting and Research
With summer coming many people may wish to visit our town to do research. The Museum has an excellent records
room set up, with a small amount of books and microfilm. We have had over 225 requests for look-ups that are being
done by our members. The Webster County History book was finished and delivery started in July, 1999 and was sold
out by the end of December, and we are now reprinting it (more information). We have
completely renovated the old Carnegie Library Building and are now (Feb 2001) installing new heat/ac. We have
the Webster County Historical Society Journals available for sale, along with Jerry Rice
paintings of the Marshfield Square and other items. Our volunteers are encapsulating the old newspapers donated
by the printers, are helping to
prepare Probate files for microfilming by the Missouri State Archives, and are indexing obits from local funeral
homes, among other jobs.
Nettie Gorman has for many years, done local genealogy for people from all over the country. The donations she
has received for doing this work has been put inot buying books for the Missouri Room at the Garst Memorial Library
and the old library before it. Our resources available there now are largely due to her efforts. We wish to continue
this growing resource for you to use. You can contact here at:
