OZARKS WOMAN PIONEER DIES

Services for Mrs. Frances C. Flood, 96, will be held Friday.
Mrs. Frances C. Flood, 96-year-old pioneer of the Ozarks, died at 10:30
o'clock Wednesday night in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Arizona Sims, 1711
West Chestnut Street.
Coming to the Ozarks from Laudaville county, Alabama, Mrs. Flood
and her husband settled in Christian county in 1861 at the beginning of
the war. She was the mother of 13 children. All but one were
at her bedside when death came.
Mrs. Flood first joined the Plesant Grove Missionary Baptist
Church in Christian county. Later the name was changed to Oak Grove
church. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Pleasant
View Baptist church in Stone County.
Burial funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning
in the home of the daughter here. Another service will be conducted
at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon in Flood church with the Rev J.W. Green,
pastor of Emanuel Baptist church in Springfield, officiating. Burial
will be in the cemetery there under direction of the Maples Undertaking
Company of Clever.
Children surviving are Mrs. Caroline Lawrence of Orongo;
Elisha Flood, Ellen Martin, Bill Flood of Stone county; Sarah Wright,
John Flood of Brown Spring; Mack Flood, Mrs. Doll Wilson of Ponce De Leon;
Mrs Arizona Sims of Springfield, and 84 grandchildren and 149 great-grandchildren
and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Submitted
