at the residence of his son-in-law, J.D. Scott, in Branson, Feb. 28, and

for some time with a cancer on his face, but this had been checked somewhat
before his death. Wm. H. May was born in Coles county, Mo., Jan.
31, 1833. He came to Stone county from Taney county many years ago
and purchased the farm on which he was buried, where he lived and raised
a family. In his younger days he was an active, influential citizen,
and took considerable interest in public affairs, but of late years he
has been sorely afflicted in confined to his home much of the time.
He was one of the oldest and best known citizens of the county, and leaves
a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
