WESLEY HANNIFF DIES FROM OPERATION
(Submitted by Ken and
Pam Coones)
The body of Wesley Hanniff, who died following an operation
for appendicitis in La Mesa, Tex., last Wednesday, was brought to Galena
Monday morning for burial.
Mr. Hanniff was abour 18 years of age and
had accompanied his uncle, Clyde Scott, to Texas a few weeks ago when his
uncle came here for a visit with relatives. When the operation was
performed it was found that the appendix was reptured and peritonitis had
set up which caused his death.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Hanniff,
were notified of his condition and attempted to reach him before he died,
but death came before they arrived. George Norris of Galena took
Mr. and Mrs. Hanniff by auto to the Texas town.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon
from the Methodist church with Rev. Dewey Short in charge. Interment
was in the Galena cemetery under the direction of the Galena Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Charley Hanniff and by four sisters.
