"We knew these people was buried in unmarked graves at Field Cemetery by obituary from
Cassville newspaper dated 1933. Last Saturday, we found four graves in a row, and on one of
the rocks being placed there, we found the initials JJL.
We feel that this must be J.J. Lloyd's grave, since he is the only one buried there with the
initials J.J. that we know of.
This family was living in Williams Township in 1900. Joseph James Lloyd, born in Newmarket, King
Twp., York County, Ontario, Canada March 15, 1835 - died 1907 in Williams Twp., Stone County, Mo.
His wife: Lucetta C. (Cheever/Lloyd/Williams), born in Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana
March 14, 1853 - died December 15, 1933 in Seligman, Barry County, Mo.
The two youngest daughters, Sarah Jennie and Josephine, died young by eating green peaches
(Botulism). This family story was confirmed by the mother of the caretaker at Field Cemetery.
Sarah Jennie Lloyd, born May 1890 in Pleasant Grove Twp., Greenwood County, Ks. Josephine Lloyd,
born Dec. 1893 in Pleasant Grove Twp., Greenwood County, Ks. We have no dates of the daughters

UPDATE-OCTOBER, 2002 BY ARNE APELAND
Cassville Republican, Dated August 30, 1900
Mr. Lloyd, living about 3 miles east of Shell Knob, had the sad misfortune of losing
two of his little girls about a week ago. They were about 9 and 11 years old. They died with
something like congestion of the stomach. This is a sad bereavement, and the family have
the sympathy of the community.
After Mr. Lloyd death, the family moved to Barry County.
