MILFORD EAVES DIES OF GUNSHOT WOUND

Milford Eaves of Farmington, who with Mrs. Eaves, owned and operated Wood's Drug Store, 101 East Columbia Street, Farmington, died early Friday morning, February 3, 1961, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the store. He was 47 years 11 months 19 days of age.

Mr. Eaves had opened the store and had just waited on a customer, Mrs. Fred Mueller of Farmington, when he suddenly picked up the gun, a .38 caliber pistol, and shot himself through the heart, dying instantly. The only other persons in the place of business at the time were two painters who were working there, finishing a job of redecorating the interior of the store.

Coroner Ted Boyer of Bonne Terre conducted an investigation into the death of Mr. Eaves, when it was established that he had taken his own life. No inquest was held.

Milford Eaves, son of John L. Eaves and Clara Valle Eaves, was born in Desloge, March 22, 1913. He graduated from Desloge High School and Bowling School of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association, Memorial Methodist Church and the Fox Hunters Association. He had been engaged in the drug store business in Rolla, Fredericktown and Farmington.

On August 28, 1932, he was united in marriage to Mary Marguerite Woods of Elvins who survives with their two sons, Edward Joel Eaves and Milford Wood Eaves, all of Farmington. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Eaves, of Desloge and two sisters, Miss Mildred Eaves of Desloge and Mrs. Jack (Doris) Couch of St. Louis; his mother-in-law, Mrs. R. J. Wood of Farmington, four grandchildren and one nephew, besides other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, February 6, at Memorial Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Joseph H. Jones. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Doe Run. Miller Funeral Service.
