Francis Nixen Black and his wife, Maggie Ellen Taylor, lived in Silver Springs area of St. Francois County (which was north of Bonne Terre) and later moved to an area East of Bonne Terre (present site of Bonne Terre prison) where they leased land from the Bonne Terre Farming & Cattle Company.
