WM. CRABDREE CHARGED
WITH CRIMINAL ASSAULT

Wm. Crabdree, who conducts a restaurant and pool room at Elvins, was arrested on two criminal charges this week. He is charged with selling intoxicating liquor and making an assault with intent to kill on Joe Downs, who is prosecuting witness in both cases.

The assault on Downs was made Saturday night. Downs alleges that he was drinking cider which contained a sufficient amount of alcohol to be termed intoxicating. He got into an altercation with Crabdree during which Crabdree assaulted him with a club. Downs statements are corroborated by other witnesses.

Crabdree's place of business bears an unsavory reputation. It has been commonly rumored for several months that intoxicating liquor was being sold there. Up until the development of this case he has escaped prosecution. The pool room has been the scene of frequent brawls. If sufficient evidence can be secured to warrant conviction in the Downs case, Crabdree's pool room license ought to and no doubt will be cancelled.
