WILLIAM WELCH
William Welch, a miner at work at the time of the accident, in Rozier Shaft No. 3, on the land of the Valle Mining Co., was killed by a falling tub February 18, 1904. The deceased was 26 years of age, and left a wife and child; he carried no insurance. The Valle Mining Company did not employ the deceased, the land on which this mine was located being rented or leased to other persons. The shaft was 160 feet in depth and the tub fell from the surface striking the deceased on the head. Coroner's verdict: "Accidental death by tub falling 160 feet and striking deceased on the head."
