Wednesday morning about one o'clock Peter Krokato, by blood a Russian but an American by birth, was struck on the head by a falling rock while at work in shaft number 1. He had gone to work at 11 in No. 6, incline shoveling and was not warned before the rock that killed him fell from the roof of the mines, crushing his head and badly mutilating his entire body. He was a young man 20 years of age, was born and raised in the United States. Several years ago his father suffered death in the same way that he did. Has a sister and brother in this country, but they have not been located as yet, and a mother in Russia. After the accident his body was taken to the undertakers's where an Inquest was held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock by Dr. English, the decision of the jury being as above.
