HENRY WELLS KILLED IN MINE
ACCIDENT AT ELVINS MONDAY

Henry Wells of
Farmington, was crushed to death in an accident at Doe Run Lead Company's mine No. 16 at
Elvins about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. He was operating an electric motor. While
trying to place a train of ore cars in position to be dumped into the ore chute his motor
started with a jerk and he was thrown between the motor and chute, crushing him to death
instantly.
He was aged 21 years, 4 months and 9
days. Funeral services were held at the Farmington Christian Church at 2:30
Wednesday afternoon by Rev. J. A. LeGrand. Interment was in the [Farmington] K. of
P. cemetery. He was a member of the K. of P. [Knights of Pythias] and this order
had charge of the services at the cemetery.
The deceased was united in marriage to
Myrtle Thomure on September 24, 1921, who, with their little daughter, survives him.
He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wells, and the following
brothers and sisters: Tom [Thomas] of Farmington; Mary (Mrs. Frank Luferne) of
Detroit, Mich.; Bertha (Mrs. Clarence Weins) of Farmington; Emmet, May, Earl and Grover,
at home, to all of whom we extend sympathy in their bereavement.
