FEDERAL LEAD CO. CLOSES DOWN NUMBER 4 MILL

Federal Mill No. 4 was closed down Sunday morning, as was also the carpenter and machine shop which had been operating in connection with the mill. More than 80 men had been employed at this place, but not all of them were left without employment. Perhaps half of this number were transferred to other sections of the Federal plant.
Up to this time No. 3 Mill, which is divided into six sections, had been operating only four sections. Enough men were transferred from No. 4 to operate the other sections. J. F. Druding, who has been assistant mill superintendent at No. 4, has been transferred to the testing plant.
A bunch of machinists from No. 1, where the machine shop was recently destroyed by fire were transferred to the shop at No. 4, Monday, with Jas. Hunt as foreman. Jues Beaudin who is general foreman at No. 1 has retained a portion of his force in the carpenter shop at No. 1. It is necessary to thus distribute the work until a new shop can be erected.
