C. M. (Bud) Schearer, Park Hills, was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, 449th Bomb Group, 718 Bomb Squad, 15th Air Force.He served in Italy during World War II.

Schearer entered service October, 1942.He trained at different air bases in the United States before going overseas in December, 1943.He served until he was wounded in August, 1944, on a mission over the Ploesti Oil Fields of Rumania.

Schearer was a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber.He flew 43 missions before being wounded.He returned to the states in November, 1944 and spent three years in a VA hospital before being discharged in October, 1947.

He is a life member of the D.A.V. and the 449th Bomb Group Association.
