95 young men, whose names were published last week, entrained at Delassus Monday afternoon for Camp Funston, Kas. Willard A. Turley of Bonne Terre was placed in charge of the party. The other leaders were Fred Deabig, Kossuth W. Blomeyer, Emmett A. Sutterfield, Fred W. Buhrmeister, Wm. E. Beaudin, Gentry W. Keith, Clarence H. Heitman, Lawrence M. Shields, Frederick H. Halter, John B. Hoehn and George E. Hart. These men comprise St. Francois county's final quota of the first draft.
Six failed to report at roll call on the train. They are as follows: Arthur A. Granthan, George A. Wann[?], Tony Gabanska, John Intitisots, Dregot Ralegata, Tony Markunuk and George Duncan.
John Bragg and James Caddick Riddles were excused 48 hours for valid reasons. They left Wednesday of this week.
Sam Vernse who failed to report last week, reported Monday and was sent with this contingent.
The boys were entertained at dinner in the court house by the ladies of Farmington. An immense crowd of people assembled both at Farmington and Delassus to bid the boys Godspeed.
No definite information as to when the next draft will be made has been received by the Local Board. They have been notified however, that from now on there will be a steady flow of men to the training camps, and that a call for more men is liable to be made at any time.
