BISMARCK CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIED SATURDAY

"Uncle" Jake Barger, age 91, a civil war veteran, died Saturday evening April 20th at his home in Bismarck. Funeral services were conducted at the Bonne Terre Methodist Church Monday at 2:00 p.m., by Rev. Wm. Stewart, in charge of Bismarck Lodge A.F. & A.M., the ceremony being conducted by A. C. Norwine of Flat River. Full military honors were awarded the aged veteran. St. Francois County Post No. 2426 Veterans of Foreign Wars furnished the firing squad under command of Geo. Whaley. A member of the V.F.W. Drum and Bugle Corps sounded taps. The Bismarck American Legion Post was also present to do honor.

The deceased was a member of the Union Army having enlisted at the age of 18 and served throughout the war. Following the war he became a resident of Bismarck. He is survived by two sisters who are residents of Peoria, Mo., and Sherian, Wyo., also a number of nephews and nieces.
