  One of two Hurst brothers held in German POW camp

      Herman Milford Hurst, and Clyde Earl Hurst are the sons of the late Anna M. (Jones) Hurst and Hueston C. Hurst, of Doe Run.  This picture was taken on Nov. 7, 1945 in St. Louis. 

     Herman was drafted in March, 1945, at the age of 20.  He was a Staff Sergeant.  Herman was captured by the Germans in France, Dec 21, 1944.  He was sent to a concentration camp in Germany until the end of the war.  He was discharged in Nov., 1945. 

     Clyde, a Private First Class, was drafted March 1945 at the age of 18.  He served in Italy during World War II and was discharged October, 1946.
