Mrs. Nancy Shoemake of Farmington,
received a message from the War Department, Saturday, telling of the death of her husband,
Pfc. Eldon Tom Shoemake, who was killed in action in France on June 25th. He was 30 years
of age. |
| Pfc. Shoemake was a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shoemake of Rivermines. His mother died four years ago and his
father was killed in a mine accident on July 16, 1941. He was married to Miss Nancy
Murphy, who resides in Farmington. Two brothers are also in the armed forces: Sgt. Lindell Paul Shoemake, in Alaska, and Pete Shoemake, Fireman First Class, U.S. Navy, in the Southwest Pacific. He is also survived by another brother, Glenwood Shoemake, of Rivermines, and three sisters: Jerry (Mrs. Harold) Douglas of Desloge and Misses Jean and Lorraine Shoemake of St. Louis. He was employed by St. Joseph Lead Company before entering service. He had been overseas since April, 1944, and the last letter received from him was on July 17th.
