Eddie A. Isgrig of Bonne Terre served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1939 to 1945.  He was in Battery A, 41st Field Artillery Battalion - Third Infantry Division.

The Third Infantry Division was the only division in WWII to earn 10 battle stars and also to suffer the most casualties.  According to an Army Ground Force report, the Third Infantry Division had 33,457 men killed, wounded and missing and was the only American division to fight the Nazis on every front in Europe.

Isgrig served in North Africa (French Morocco, tunisia), Sicily, Italy (including Anzio Beachhead), Southern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Germany and Central Europe.

Isgrig has been married to Glenna (Byers) Isgrig, who contributed the above information, for 48 years.   The couple have four children: Dennis who was killed in action in Vietnam War, Terry and Charles of Bonne Terre, and Mary Cynthia Glenn of Pevely; and four grandchildren.
