As we travel on life's journey over
hills and valleys low
Sun and shadow cross your pathway;
In succession come and go;
Now a ray of joy and gladness
comes to cheer us on our way.

Now the clouds of sadness gather
and the sunshine fades away.
Sam Doss a beam of sunshine with
his smiling face so dear;
Came to give us hope and comfort;
And to bring us love and cheer.

He has now departed from us for
a place beyond the skies
Where the shadows never gather
and daylight never dies.
He has left us sad and lonely
Filled with sorrow and despair;
But the star of hope shines brightly
and we hope to meet him over there.
