Mrs. Reba E. Babler, 94, Osceola,
died Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at Community Nursing Home in El Dorado
Springs. Mrs. Babler was born in Roscoe and was a lifelong area
resident. She was a member of the Roscoe Christian Church. She is
survived by two dear friends, Cecil and Bettie Bolander of Osceola;
two sisters-in-law, Alice Bartlett of Butler and Catherine
Neuenschwander of Livermore, California. Funeral services will be
Friday, April 12 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial in
Osceola Cemetery.
BAER, Stevia C. Green

Mrs. Stevia Baer, 93, Osceola, died Wednesday, January 24, 1996, at
Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City. Mrs. Baer was born in Osceola and was
a lifelong resident. She was a longtime teacher at Osceola High
School. She was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church
and the Osceola Garden Club. She is survived by one son, Lt. General
(Retired) Robert J. Baer of Fairfax Station, Virginia; two daughters,
Mrs. Jacqueline Buttram of St. Louis and Mrs. Sue Higgins of Osceola;
two brothers, Charles H. Green Jr. of Los Fresnos, Texas, and Will
Lucan Green of Oroville, Calif.; two sisters, Lula Wilcher of Vera
Beach, Florida, and Sue B. Green of Tucson, Arizona; 11 grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Robert Mitchell of Tucson,
Arizona; one sister-in-law, Mathilde Baer of California, Mo. Funeral
services will be Saturday, January 27 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel
in Osceola. Burial will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
BAILEY, Bobbie Eugene

Bobbie Eugene Bailey, the third child of William Ernest and Bertha
May (Dobbs) Bailey, was born
January 3, 1926, in Macomb, IL, and passed from this life May 9, 1994,
at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola at the age of 68 years, 4 months
and 6 days. Due to lack of employment opportunities, the family was
forced to go where the work was, so Bob spent his childhood in
several different states, finally
returning to Deepwater, where he spent most of the rest of his
childhood.
On June 29, 1953, in Clinton, he married Mae Irene Crowder and to this
union six children were born.
On December 16,1979, he married Margaret Yvonne Sartain and became the
father of 12 children,
his six children and her six children, who loved him as their own
father. Bob was a personable, happy-go-lucky man, with a quick wit and
who loved to tease. The family has always joked and played practical
jokes on each other, and usually Bob was in the middle of all of them
- either giving or receiving the brunt of the jokes. He had a way of
coming up with goofy nicknames and you didn't dare show it bothered
you - or you were nailed with it for life. Bob had a lot of passions -
one of them was cars. From the
time he could lift up a wrench or screwdriver, he had to see what made
engines tick. When he was
smaller, much to his mother's dismay, he even unfixed a few motors
that didn't need fixed. But by the
time he was a teenager, he could take a car engine apart and put it
back together.
Another great love he enjoyed from childhood until the Lord called him
home was fishing. He especially
had time to enjoy it the last fifteen years and that was when he was
happiest. Today, as he takes his
final rest, his children made sure his trusty rod and reel were
securely within reaching distance.
His son, Archie, and wife, Yvonne, were laughing happily with him on
the morning of May 9 when
suddenly Bobbie Eugene Bailey's life came to an end - and his son
finds solace in knowing his father
died as he had lived, happy and laughing and enjoying life. Bob was
preceded in death by his parents,
William Ernest and Bertha May Dobbs Bailey; one sister, Elizabeth
Jeane (Bailey) Snedeker, and one brother, Thomas Bert Bailey. He is
survived by his wife, Yvonne Bailey, of the home; two daughters,
Mary June Engeman of Lowry City and Bonnie Jean Bailey of Warsaw; four
sons, Leonard Ernest Bailey, David Eugene Bailey and William Benjamin
Bailey, all of Lowry City, and Bobbie Lynn Bailey of
Deepwater; four step-daughters, Tyra Young of Deepwater, Tamra
Courtney of Harrisonville, Treva Matthews of San Diego, Ca., and Tracy
Myears of Lake Andes, SD; two step-sons, Terry Childers
of Oak Grove and Troy Cross of Republic; two brothers, Bennie Bailey
of Excelsior Springs and Bill
Bailey of Deepwater; twenty-six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren. He was a special "Uncle" to all of his nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends are
left to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Bobbie Eugene Bailey were held Wednesday, May 11,
1994, at the
Brownington Baptist Church with his nephew Rev. Alan Anzalone
officiating. Final resting
place was Maplewood Cemetery at Brownington.
BAILEY, Dona M.

Dona Mary Bailey, the daughter of G. W. and Ada Jane (Butler) Bailey
was born in Rockville, Missouri on August 13, 1905. She passed away at
the Appleton City Manor Nursing Home on September 19, 2003 at the age
of 98 years. Dona lived in the Rockville area nearly all of her life
where she owned and operated a café for many years. She was a member
of the Rockville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her
parents; three brothers, Bill, John and Bert Drummond; and two
sisters, Cora Hicks and Pearl Hoyt. Dona is survived by two nephews,
Frank Drummond of Horton, Missouri and Richard Hicks of Independence,
Missouri; and six nieces, Dorothy Curtis of Blue Springs, Missouri,
Shirley Hunziker of Creighton, Missouri, Maxine Filter, Vera
Rehermann, and Pansy Hancock all of Live Oak, California and Fern
Afton of Biggs, California. Dona was very thoughtful of people in the
Rockville area and she always took it upon herself to see that flowers
were ordered and sent to people that were ill and when deaths occurred
in the community.

Mrs. Wright Bailey Dies -
Mrs. Wright Bailey, 90 years old, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. She had
been in failing health for some time. Funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m. Friday at the Lee Funeral Home. Widow of a well-known cattle
buyer here, Mrs. Bailey is survived by the following children: Mrs.
Ott Piepmeier, Mrs. Lucian Baskerville, Mrs. Joe Pratt of Butler, and
C.H. Bailey of Rockville.
BAILEY, Onalee Gover

Onalee Bailey died Thursday, June 12, 1997 at the Golden Valley
Memorial Hospital in Clinton at the age of 90 years, five months and
23 days. She was born December 19, 1906 in Iconium, the daughter of
Jim Andy and Audrey Bernard Gover. She was a school teacher prior to
her retirement and had lived in the Clinton area for a number of
years. She is survived by one son, Jim Andy Bailey, Lake Ozark; three
granddaughters, Joyce Marie Heller, O'Fallon, Grace Ann Rudolph,
Shawnee, Kansas and Janice Gail Reed, Humble, Texas; one grandson, Jim
Andy Bailey II, Overland Park, Kansas, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 17 at Consalus Chapel in Clinton.
Burial was in Englewood Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Edwards Bailey was born January 26, 1943 in Tulsa, Okla.,
to Dewey Vester and Bernice Edwards. She went to be with the Lord on
April 7, 2007 at Truman Lake Manor, Lowry City.
On Sept. 9, 1983 she was united in marriage to Leonard Ernest Bailey.
They made their home in Tulsa, Okla. and later moved to Lowry City.
Patricia wokred many years in convenience stores as well as a cook
where her rolls and pies were the talk of the town.
She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the
many adopted grandchildren who came to see her. She loved them all and
they made her day when they came to visit. She especially loved it
when Brother Jeff brought Jon and Scott to see her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter and her
brother-in-law, Bobby Bailey.
Services were Monday, April 9, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with
Reverend Jeff Ferguson officiating.
Musical selections were "The Old Rugged Cross", "I'll Fly Away" and
"Holes In The Floor In Heaven".
Casketbearers were Michael Mohamad, Kenny Collins, Willie Bailey,
David Eaton, Ronnie Schrieber, and Bobby Elliot.
Interment was in the Maplewood Cemetery, Deepwater, under the
direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Russell E. "Beetle" Bailey, 73, of Osceola and Independence, passed
away at St. Mary's Hospital, Oct. 3, 2007.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Gloria Bailey, a son, Russell
D. Bailey and wife, Jackie; a daughter, Sheri Border; and two
grandsons, Bryan Bailey and Doni Border.

Russell E. "Beetle" Bailey, 73, of Independence, Mo., passed away
Wednesday October 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his
loved ones. Beetle attended East High School. He retired from Otis
Elevator Co. after 24 years of service (1969-1993). Beetle married
Gloria J. Davis Bailey on July 25th, 1953. Beetle enjoyed hunting and
fishing at their home in the woods, in Osceola, Mo. It was "his little
peace of heaven". He is survived by his wife, Gloria of the home; one
son, Russ Bailey and wife Jackie of Lee's Summit; one daughter, Sheri
Border of Independence; two grandsons, Bryan Bailey of Springfield and
Doni Border of Independence. Beetle is preceded in death by his
parents and three siblings. A celebration of Beetle's life will be

St. Clair County resident. She was
a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. Funeral services
will be Thursday, June 2, at the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial will be in the
Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery near Collins.
BAKER, Fred Rufus

Fred R. Baker, 86, Osceola, died Sunday, April 23, 1995, at Big
Springs Nursing Care Center in Humansville. He was born near Collins
and was a lifelong St. Clair County area resident and retired farmer.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. He is
survived by six sisters, Opal Cooper of Waverly, Ethel Mathleson of
Weaubleau, Dora Nance of Collins, Mildred Hopkins of Flemington, Viola
McCoy of Humansville, and Virginia Miller of Holden; a nephew whom he
raised as a son, Howard Dosier of Raymore; three grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services
will be Tuesday, April 25 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola.
Burial will be in the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, near Collins.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Ida J. Baker -
Funeral services for Ida Josephine Baker were held at 2 o'clock
Thursday afternoon at the Pleasant Grove church.
Rev. O.E. Martin of El Dorado Springs had charge of the services. Mr.
and Mrs. Will Read, Raleigh Reed and Mrs. John Breckenridge,
accompanied by Mrs. Floyd Bowman, sang "Going Down The Valley",
"Beyond The Sunset", and "It Is Well With My Soul".
The pallbearers were Will Reed, Raleigh Reed, Buck Hutchison, Howard
Luther, Floyd and Fred Hutton.
Mrs. Baker died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Strader, near
Harwood. She had (been) ill for some time.
The body laid in state at the Waggoner Funeral Home until time of
services. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Funeral services for Irvin Leon Baker will be Wednesday, November 15
at the Sharon Baptist
Church in Lowry City. Burial will be in the Wright's Creek Cemetery,
Lowry City, under direction
of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola. Mr. Baker died
Sunday, November 12, 1995,
at his home. Irvin Leon Baker, son of Joseph Dawsie and Nellie Dewey
Baker, was born August 13, 1918, at Vallhalla, east of Lowry City. He
spent his entire life in the Lowry City area. He was saved in 1953
and was ordained to the ministry and faithfully served as pastor of
the Sharon Baptist Church in Lowry
City for 34 years. Mr. Baker was a very successful farmer, being very
active until his death.
He was united in marriage to Ada Mae Wright on December 21, 1938, and
to this union six children
were born. He was preceded in death by Ada Mae on July 24, 1990, and
two children who died in infancy. Mr. Baker was married to Mary Jane
Good Young on September 3, 1991, who survives him of the
home. He is also survived by his two daughters, Sandra Kay Braithwait
and husband Charles, of Lowry City, and Beverly Ann Dull and husband Leon of Lowry City; two sons,
Lonnie Baker and wife Marilyn
of Overland Park, Kansas, and J. D. Baker and wife Candi of Osceola; a
stepdaughter Dena Vest
of El Dorado Springs; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
BAKER, James C.
J.C. (James) Baker, age 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away Tuesday,
October 5, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South. He was born April 22,
1924, in Galena, MO, to B.G. and Nettie (Jones) Baker. He served in
the U.S. United States Army during World War II serving in the Battle
of the Bulge. J.C. retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents B.G. and Nettie Baker, his
first wife Velma Baker, daughter Janice Workman, one half-brother, one
half-sister, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Allene A.
Baker of Springfield, MO, two children: Judy Arthur and husband Larry
Sr. of Pleasant Hope, Dan Baker of the Florida Keys, grandchildren
Krystina Lin Workman, Joseph Michael Workman, Larry Craigmyle Jr.,
Derek Craigmyle, Mindy Fohn, Laura Arthur, Sarah Arthur and Ryan
Arthur, and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at
12:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010, at Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery,
Collins, MO, with Mr. Dennis Goodwin officiating. Friends may call

Jennettia Nora Baker was born on February 2, 1925 in Collins, Missouri
to Elmer and Eva Lena (Bird) Elliott and passed away on January 14,
2007 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri after a long battle
of several illnesses.
She was a member of the V.F.W. eagles when she lived in Washington and
has been a member of the Northern Cherokee Tribe in Columbia, Missouri
since 1988. Jennettia was baptized in 1992.
Jennettia has a very strong love for the outdoors. As a native of the
Sac-Osage area she enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, going to
auction and traveling. She also enjoyed indoor activities such as
puzzles and quilting.
Jennettia was one who had a great personality, very caring and
thoughtful, and always willing to help out others. She had a lot of
character, and was so kind at heart.
After several years of searching, she found her soul mate, she was
united in marriage to Frank C. Baker on November 28, 1991 in Clinton,
Missouri, and to this marriage, one daughter, Sandi Baker was adopted.
Jennettia was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Eva L. (Bird)
Elliott, two sisters, Mildred Anderson and Hazel Kirk and one brother,
Joe Elliott.
Jennettia is survived by her loving and loyal husband, Frank C. Baker
of the home, her daughter, Sandi Nickell and husband Alan of Avondale,
Missouri, grandson, Jimmy Dare, grand-daughter, Holly Miles, step-son,
Gary Baker and grandsons Frank J. Baker (Frankie-Joe) and Nicholas
(Nicky) Baker of Clinton, Missouri. One brother, Elmer Elliott and
wife Lois of Clinton, Missouri, Cleo Elliott of Independence,
Missouri, Annie Jones of Clinton, Missouri, and Ruby Dempsey of
Clinton, Missouri, several nieces and nephews who will miss her very
much.
Funeral services were Thursday, January 18, 2007.

On Jan. 6, 1959, she was united in marriage to Glenn Lewis Baker and

this union six children were born.Virginia was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Gene Cox

Dan Cox; a son, Lewis Lee; and a grandson, Joshua.She is survived by her close companion, Bernard Heard of the home; her

2004. Mrs. Balchin was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Appleton City, Mo. She
donated
her body to science. She is survived by a daughter, Wilma Mix, Topeka;

brothers, Eldon Ridgway, Ottawa, and Elza Ridgway, El Dorado Springs,
Mo.; a
sister, Imogene Spruell, in Missouri.; five granddaughters; and 10
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Isabel
Snethen.

BALDOCK, Roberta Doreen Jennings

Roberta Doreen Baldock, the daughter of Robert Lesley and Fairy Mae (Fizer) Jennings, was born on September 23, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas.
She passed away on February 4, 2002 at Appleton City Manor Nursing
Home at the age of 78 years. Roberta lived most of her life in the
Kansas City, Montrose and Appleton City areas. She worked for several
years while in the Kansas City area for an insurance company. She was
a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City. Mrs. Baldock
was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers John and Jack
Jennings. She is survived by her son Marvin Paine of Montrose,
Missouri. Roberta was a spunky and loving lady who made many friends
in her lifetime and was adored by those who worked at the nursing
home. She dearly loved her son and all children, often taking them in
and caring for them in her own home. She enjoyed crocheting and
fishing during her life and had an amazing gift of being able to
remember numbers of all kinds and never forgot them. She will be sadly
missed by her family and friends.

Fran Kaye (Trombley) Baldwin - Fran Kaye (Trombley) Baldwin, 48,
Collins, passed from this life on (Good Friday) March 21, 2008. She
was born on Sept. 26, 1959, in New Hope, NC, to Robert and
Dorothy Trombley.
The loss of Fran brings grief and sadness to those who knew and loved
her. She touched many lives and her
loving and caring nature affected everyone she met. She will be sorely
missed but never forgotten.
She graduated from Palmer High School (Colorado Springs) in 1978. On
that graduation night she dated
Paul W. Baldwin for the first time after a long friendship and they
were married a year later on Aug. 7, 1979.
Fran was a devoted wife to Paul and a mother to their three children -
Paul Robert Baldwin - Tucson, AZ,
Christopher Baldwin - Kansas City, and Ashley (Baldwin) Elsey -
Baumholder, Germany. She devoted
much of her married life to caring and raising her children in an
environment of love, mutual respect, education and admonition of the
Almighty God-Jesus Christ and exemplifying the character thereof.
While living in Colorado Springs, she worked at Ent Federal Credit
Union and Sam's Club in the early years
and later worked with her mother-in-law, Sue Baldwin, as antique
dealers. After moving to Missouri in 1999, she volunteered at
Weaubleau High School and worked as a server at Peggy's Restaurant
while writing as a free lance writer for the Hickory County Index and
St. Clair County Courier. She also worked part-time for the family
business of Baldwin Painting & Restorations, Inc. She has volunteered
on Mexico
mission trips and was a tremendous supporter of children's education
ministries worldwide.
Fran is survived by her husband, Paul; three children; her younger
sister; her parents and her mother-in-law.
Those who preceded her in death and greeted her in heaven were her 11
months-older sister, Cathy, who
passed on Jan. 6, 2007, and her father-in-law, Charles E. Baldwin, who
passed on Oct. 11, 2004.
For her husband, Paul, he lost the battle but Fran won the war for
there will be no tears, no sorrow and no
cancer in Heaven.
Services for Fran will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Burial will in the Ellis Chapel Cemetery in
Wister, OK, at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
BALDWIN, Wanda Ruth Peterman

Wanda Ruth (Peterman) Baldwin, age 91, of El Dorado Springs, Mo.,
passed away Dec. 13, 2004, at Community Springs Care Center. Wanda
Ruth Peterman was born to Effie and John Peterman on March 17, 1913,
in Collins, Mo., where she lived in the same house until 1936. She
attended 12 years of school in Collins.
Wanda Ruth graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1958,
and taught school 19 years in St. Clair and Hickory counties in
Missouri. Wanda Ruth was united in marriage to Lewis D. "Tommy"
Baldwin on June 9, 1934. A precious son, John Lewis Baldwin was born
on June 28, 1935. Wanda Ruth was an active member of the Collins
Christian Church, playing the piano and organ for over 50 years. She
was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #148 of El Dorado Springs
for over 50 years and past president of the Sac Osage Retired Teachers. Wanda Ruth had been secretary/treasurer of Robinson Cemetery
Association for many years. She enjoyed the Senior Center and did
volunteer work there. Wanda Ruth loved her family dearly and had many
friends whom she loved to entertain in her home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Pauline; four
grandchildren, David Baldwin, Terri Carolan, Lisa Baldwin and Johnny
and Cindy Baldwin; seven great-grandchildren, Stacey Baldwin, Natasha
Baldwin, Justin Vaughan, Taylor Carolan, Thomas Carolan, Kennyn
Baldwin and John Baldwin III; and one great-great-grandchild, Shelby
Byrns, all whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services are Dec. 18, 2004, at the First Christian Church.
Interment in the Robinson Cemetery under the direction of the
Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.

the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. He was born in Lowry City. He was a
retired farmer. Most of his life was spent on the family farm. He was
a Baptist.
He is survived by two brothers, Glen Ballard of Clinton and William
Riley Ballard of Platte City; three sisters,
Eva Murphy of Osceola, Ruby Prier of Odessa, and Emma Ohm of
Gainesville.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 7, at the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel in Osceola. Burial will be in the Landaker Cemetery.

Vincel A. Ballard, 85, Independence, died Friday, September 16, 2005,
at Cedar Valley Health Center. Funeral service will be September 20,

Mr. Ballard was born on August 15, 1920, to Georgie and Ruth Ballard
in Lowry City. He had been a dairy farmer and construction worker most
of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of
the Clinton VFW.
He was preceded in death by a son David in 1989.
He is survived by his wife Laretha J. Ballard; three children, Cheryl
Furnell, Gary Ballard and Lisa Ballard; eight grandchildren, nine
great-grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
BARCLAY, John Samuel

John Samuel Barclay, 88, El Dorado Springs, passed away on March 15,
2008, at Cedar County Memorial
Hospital. John was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Osceola, the only child of
Oscar L. and Lettie M. (Wright) Barclay.
John spent his early childhood in Osceola and Roscoe. He graduated
from El Dorado Springs High School in
1937. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriner's
and a member of the local VFW Post.
On April 11, 1941, he was inducted into the Army. He received his
basic training at Ft. Lewis, WA, and left
the states on Aug. 28, 1941. His battalion, in which he trained, was
split up and his company was sent to
Alaska and the rest to the Philippines. His outfit was scheduled to
join the others, but war was declared and they remained in Alaska. He
received an honorable discharge on Sept. 29, 1945.
After returning from the war, he started work at the International
Shoe Factory, where he met his future wife, Leola Fern Davis. John and
Fern were married Jan. 9, 1947, only being apart when one or the other
was in the hospital. To this union three children were born – Steven
Art, Deanna Lee and Sheila Sue.
John had a good sense of humor and managed to get a smile from most
people he met John retired from Mid
America Dairy in 1982. After retirement, he looked after his parents,
worked in his garden and enjoyed
his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his son, Steven Art, Feb. 9, 1950, his
father, Oscar, July 8, 1983, and his
mother, Lettie, June 3, 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Fern, of the home; two daughters, Deanna
Lee Shouse and husband, Guy, and
Sheila Sue Benham and her husband, Gary – all of El Dorado Springs;
six grandchildren – Kent Shouse and
wife, Jessy – Joplin, Lee Shouse – Joplin, Whitney Benham – Ottawa,
KS, Margaret, Josh and Katie Benham – El Dorado Springs; and a
sister-in-law, Bettie Davis – El Dorado Springs. He will be sadly
missed by a host of family and friends.
Services were held Monday, March 17, at the Hackleman
Chapel with Rev. James Coleman and Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Music
was provided by Vera Bourland. A visitation was held at the chapel
Sunday afternoon with Masonic Rites. Burial was in the El Dorado
Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral
Home. Pallbearers were his fellow Masonic brothers – Ron Zimmerman, Ed
Morlan, George Reeves, Jim Ogle, Jerl Leonard and Ed Gettys.

Kevin Wayne Barnes was born on June 13, 1958 to J.W. and Joyce Barnes
and passed away on Jan. 20, 2007.
He spent his entire life west of Lowry City on highway A. Kevin grew
up down on the farm.
Kevin looked after his grandma until she died in 1995.
Kevin attended school at Lowry City elementary and high schools.
Kevin was a member of the first graduating class of Lakeland High
School. Throughout high school Kevin was an active member of the Lowry
City and Lakeland FFA Chapters, raising hogs and Polled Hereford cows
as his FFA projects. Kevin earned his Chapter Farmer Degree and was
FFA treasurer his senior year.
After completing his education he began working on the farm with his
dad and grandpa.
Throughout the years Kevin did a number of things in addition to
farming. For a few years he owned and operated Barnes' Liquor Store in
Osceola and later worked some evenings and weekends at a local
convenience store. His most recent venture was in 1993 when he
purchased the "Patio Drive-In" in Lowry City. He changed it from a
fast food restaurant to a nice sit down restaurant. Kevin operated the
restaurant until 2005 when he sold it to his friends John and Pat
Gover. After leaving the restaurant he worked on the farm.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Ruth Barnes
and Glen Ferguson and Josephine Ferguson Naylor and his beloved dog,
Martha.
He is survived by his parents, J.W. and Joyce Barnes; his sister,
Kathy and her husband, Chuck; four nieces and nephews; Dillon and
Cheyenne Davis of Lowry City, Jericko Beebe of Clinton and Katrina
Corbin of Osceola; two aunts, Lou Cornett of Lee's Summit and Harriet
Gilkeson and her husband, Kenneth of Brunswick; one uncle, Gene
Ferguson and his wife, Pat of Sedalia and so many friends it would be
impossible to mention them all.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Lowry City Cemetery.
Officiation by Sylvia Eldridge.
Interment was in Lowry City Cemetery under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Roy Welton Barnes was born December 3, 1919 in Osceola to Charles D.
and Molly (Hutton) Barnes. He left this life May 29, 2007 at the
Veterans Administratiion Hospital in Kansas City.
Roy was the youngest of the eight siblings and he was only two years
old when his father passed away. He graduated from Osceola High School
in 1937 and married the love of his life on October 28, 1939 in
Bolivar.
Roy was called to duty and joined the Marines in 1943, where he saw
action in the Pacific Theatre. After returning from the war Roy held
various jobs, hauling milk, serving as county collector, and supplying
area farmers and residents with petroleum products for nearly 30 years
until his retirement.
Roy took the Lord as his Savior when he was baptized on March 22, 1959
at the First Baptist Church of Osceola where he remained a member at
the time of his passing.
Roy was preceded in death by his father and mother, four sisters,
Wanita, Mildred, infant, Mary and Bessie; two brothers, Jack and
Marion; one son-in-law, Frank Underwood, and one granddaughter,
infant, Miranda Jo.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nellie Mae Barnes, his six
children, Larry and his wife, Marilyn of San Antonio, Texas, Donna
Underwood, Stockton, Marty and his wife, Suzie, Harrisonville, Lynn
and his wife, Robbie, Adrian, one sister, Amy Cleveland, Osceola; 11
grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one step great great
granddaughter and numerous relatives and good friends.
Casketbearers were Toby Barnes, David Underwood, Kelly Barnes, Tony
Barnes, Jamie Barnes, Mathew Underwood, Steven Barnes and J.G. Hudson.
Military Services by the United States Marine Corps were held
Saturday, June 2 at the First Baptist Church of Osceola.
Officiated by Rev. Scott Hill.
Music selections played were "Strawberry Roan" and "In the Garden" by
Dick Powell, "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Gail Ingle and "Amazing Grace"

Lytle Elvin Barnett was born on May 27, 1908, near Oyer, the son of
Jasper Elvin and Carnelia May
Amick Barnett. He died October 20, 2005,
at the age of 97 in the Truman Lake Manor nursing home
where he had
been living for more than two years. He attended grade school at
Glendale and graduated
from Roscoe High School in 1928. Lytle was a
guard on the Roscoe basketball team whose picture
appeared in the
state book as a top team.On February 14, 1929, he married Orpha A. Henderson near Roscoe. To
this union three children
were born.
Lytle farmed most of his life near Roscoe. He and a neighbor, Fred
Babler, took a number of Agriculture Extension Courses and then
working with the county agent, built some of the first water ways and
terraces in the area.
Lytle was saved at an early age and spent decades as an active member
and superintendent of the
Pleasant Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
He conducted many funerals and preached over the years.
Lytle was preceded in death by his parents Jasper and May Barnett, his
wife Orpha; his sister Elsie and
her husband Marva Lines; his brother,
Homer Barnett; and granddaughter C. Joe Coleman Pummill.Survivors include his children Derl Barnett of Osceola, Wanda and

Ottavia B. Barrett, 74, Weaubleau, formerly of Kansas City, died
Sunday, Nov. 15 at 4:07 p.m. in St. John's Regional Health Center,
Springfield. The daughter of Herbert and Nellie Breshears Mezzacasa,
she was born April 16, 1924, at Houston. She worked for 15 years at
Wolfermann's in Kansas City as a cake decorator. she was a member of
Eastside Assembly of God in Kansas City. Survivors include seven
children, Joe Freeland of Ava, David Jordan of Blue Springs, Darlene
Leas of Kansas City, Nellie Cox of Weaubleau, Ottavia Carter of Lone

Charles “C.W.” Bauer, 70, Appleton City, Missouri, passed away
Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City,
Missouri C.W. was born at home on a farm east of Appleton City,
December 10, 1935, to Johnnie W. Bauer and Mary A. (Zwahlen) Bauer It
was there that he enjoyed farming with his family for the better part
of his life. He graduated from Appleton City High School and attended
one year at Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, Missouri. He was a
member of First Baptist Church of Appleton City where he served as
Sunday school teacher, R.A. leader, trustee, parsonage building
committee member, and bank depositor for many years. C.W. was a born
again Christian and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was
awarded the Balance Farming Award for St. Clair County in 1956; he was
a member of the Missouri Seed Association; volunteered at church and
Moore School house. He was a pioneer for canola production in
Missouri. He took great pleasure in “spinning a yarn” and hosting
dinner parties for friends and family. C.W. and Patricia Mae Artz were
united in marriage April 22, 1956 and to this union two children were
born. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed
life and his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and a host
of friends. C.W. was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Mary
Bauer. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of almost 50 years; his
son Charles W. Bauer II and his wife, Sandy of Blue Springs, Missouri;

Joe T. Bauer, son of William and Eva A. (Hill) Bauer, was born
February 22, 1914, in Taberville. He departed this life October 12,
1994, in Kansas City at the age of 80 years. He spent all of his life
in the Appleton City area, except for two years in Washington during
his childhood. Joe and Ina Good were united in marriage May 21, 1939,
in Forsythe, and to this union four children were born. He enjoyed
farming and raising cattle, which he chose as his lifelong occupation.
Joe loved and cared about his family and worked hard to provide a good
home life for them. He especially cherished the time spent with his
grandchildren in his later years. He was preceded in death by his
parents; an infant son, Edward William Bauer; a daughter, Betty Lou
Rodgers; and three brothers, Johnie, Howard and William Bauer Jr.
Survivors include his wife Ina Bauer of the home; two sons, Jerry of
the home and bill of Appleton City; two sisters, Alberta Ammons of
Leeton, and Marcella Dade of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly
missed by his family and friends. Funeral services were at the
Appleton City First Baptist Church Saturday, October 15. Burial was in

the Colonel Springs Healthcare in Buffalo. Born April 15, 1939, in
Steele, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Zillah Gentry and
the late Chanel Ace Gentry.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Franklin Gentry,
Richard Gentry, Jack Gentry and one sister, Mary Sue Sprouse.
Pat Baugus was a homemaker and provided in-home care for the elderly.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bolivar.
Survivors include her husband, L. C. Baugus; two sons, Steve Baugus
and wife, Joyce, Tunas and David Baugus and wife, Ronda, Wellington;
three daughters, Donna Crawford, Springfield, Lisa Massey and husband,
Clint, Philipsburg, Tammy Ervin, Springfield; four brothers, Bob

Everett & Sylvia Bryant were married Oct. 6, 1940. She preceded
him in death Feb. 18, 2006. His parents
and a sister, Goldia Spoor, also preceded him in death.
Everett was a farmer at Collins for many years. In 1961, the family
moved from Collins to Bolivar where
he worked as a carpenter until his retirement.
Everett accepted Christ as a teenager and became a member of the Coon
Creek Baptist Church at Collins.
Presently, he was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in
Bolivar.
Surviving is his daughter, Sue B. McLaury, Raytown; one brother,
William Baumgarden, Collins and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at
Murray funeral Home, Bolivar with Pastor Gary Urich officiating.
Interment was in Robinson cemetery at Collins.

Jacob Baumgarden was born on March 10, 1813, and departed this life
September 18, 1927, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 8 days.
He was married three times, his wife all preceding him in death.
On March 27, 1876, he was married to Julia Mildred Hamby, and to this
union on child, James Silas was born. On April 1, 1877, he was married
to Sevilor Walker, and to this union five boys and three girls were
born of whom four boys are living. May 12, 1892, he was married to
Caroline Witt; to this union one child was born.
Mr. Baumgarden had been in poor health for several years, but had only
been bedfast for about five weeks. His five living children – Jesse,
Johnny, Marion, and Eli Baumgarden and Mrs. Lovell Carpenter, were
with him at the time of his death, and everything that loving hands
and medical aid could do was done for him; but at 9:15 o’clock on
Sunday evening the Master said “Come,” and he very quietly and
peacefully answered this summons.
At an early age he was converted and united with the Macedonia Baptist
Church. He was a good husband and father, a good neighbor, and a true
Christian. He will be sadly missed, not only by his five children, but
by 22 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many other relatives
and friends. As we think of his life and of his very peaceful passing
we are reminded of Paul’s words when he said “I have fought a good
fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the
righteous judge, shall give me in the day.”
Funeral services were held at the King’s Prairie church, conducted by
T. F. Harden. The text Rev. 14:13. After which the remains were placed
in the King’s Prairie Cemetery.

Lester Lee Baumgarden 62, Greenville, Texas, died Friday, January 14,
2005, in his home. Funeral services were Monday, January 17, at 11
a.m. in the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, Osceola. Burial was in Kings
Prairie Cemetery. He was born September 12, 1942, in Collins, to Eva
Baumgarden. He was educated in the public schools in Clinton. In 1977
he moved to Greenville, Texas, where he spent his remaining years. He
is survived by one son, Rodney Baumgarden and his wife Kristy,
Kingsville; two daughters, Regina Renken and her husband Brian,
Houston, Texas, and Rhonda Query, lee's Summit; 111 grandchildren,
Brandon Easter and wife April, Candace Easter, Tyler, Zachary,
Nathaniel, Joshua and Daniel Renken, Amber, Adam, Anna and Amelia
Baumgarden; four great-grandchildren and longtime friend and companion

Pearl Baumgarden, youngest daughter of James and Clara Baumgarden, was
born February 23, 1892 in St. Clair County.
She spent most of her life in Hickory County, north of Weaubleau, on a
farm, moving to Collins in 1962 until her death on September 26, after
a fall breaking her hip.
Survivors are Flora Kennon, Francis Lantrip, J. W. and Jeannie, Ricky,
and Vanessa Lantrip.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 28 at the Goodrich Chapel in
Osceola and interment in King’s Prairie Cemetery.

Ray Dean Baumgarden was born September 27, 1926, near Gerster, MO to
Jessie and Lula Tucker Baumgarden. He passed away January 9, 1990, in
Newport, Oregon.
Ray was baptized at an early age and joined the Gerster Baptist
Church.
He was an Army veteran and served in World War II.
Ray Dean had many years of crippling arthritis. He had been lovingly
cared for by relatives until the last few months, which his condition
had deteriorated to where he required professional care. Ray entered a
nursing care center in Newport, Oregon near his nephew, Harvey and
wife Betty, who saw to his needs until his passing.
He had expressed his desire to go to his eternal home where pain or
death cannot enter.
Ray is survived by one son, Kenneth Baumgarden, of Lexington, MO; two
daughters, Mrs. Sharon Smith and Mrs. Marsha Copeland, both of
Independence, MO; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Estes, of Weaubleau, Mo;
five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relative and many friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services were held on Saturday, January 13, at 1 p.m., at the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Dellinger officiating.
Music furnished by the Gerster Baptist Church Choir.
Casketbearers were Harvey Baumgarden, George Baumgarden, Cecil
Baumgarden, Willie Baumgarden, Alfred Baumgarden, and Wilbur Slocum.

Raymond Elonzo Baumgarden, Sr., son of John Elonzo and Ruby Ellen
(Spoon) Baumgarden, was born December 15, 1932, in Collins, and died
at his home in Clinton June 10, 2003, at the age of 70 years. Raymond
was in the Army Air Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was married to
Edith Frances Tillery. He was an over-the-road truck driver before his
retirement. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Clinton. He
was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Frances Baumgarden of the home; two
sons, Raymond Baumgarden and wife Juanita, and Vernon Baumgarden and
wife Rusti, all of Clinton; one daughter, Barbara Romeno and husband,
Rick, Layton, Utah; two brothers, Dennis Fowler and Billy Fowler of
Neosho; three sisters, Pat Wead of Neosho, Donna Hawkins of Oklahoma
and Mary Hubbard of Washington State; grandmother, Vela Spoon of
Neosho, as well as seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel Saturday, June

Sylvia Mae Baumgarden, 86, Bolivar, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, in
Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility. The daughter of David C. and
Clara A. Miller Bryant, she was born at Kindrick, Colo., May 7, 1919.
Sylvia and Everett Baumgarden were married Oct. 6, 1940. They lived
for several years at Collins before moving to Bolivar.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church.
Her parents and two brothers, David C. Bryant, Jr. and Harley Bryant,
preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband, Everett, of the home; one daughter, Sue B.
McLaury, Raytown; a sister-in-law, Mildred Bryant, Concordia; two
step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and four nieces
and nephews. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 21 in Murray Funeral
Home, Bolivar, with Brother Ralph Benham officiating. Interment was in
Robinson Cemetery east of Collins.

Mary Baxter was born Dec. 9, 1924 in St. Clair County to Adam Clark
and Sarah May [Hartley] Wisner. She passed away March 10, 2010 at
Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City.
Mary was married to Leo Baxter Feb. 15, 1945 and to this union were
born four children; Mark, David, Francie and Kevin. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Leo, and her four sisters, Margerate,
Jennette, Ruby and Frances.Mary lived all her life in the Bear Creek area. She was a wonderful
mother, not just to her own children, but to everyone in the
neighborhood.Mary went to work at Waites Nursing Home for several years and then
worked 30 years at the Sac-Osage Hospital. She never met a stranger
and you always knew what was on her mind.Mary enjoyed her flowers and her quilts. She also loved to travel. All
her children would take her on trips. Later in life she started going
trucking with her son, Kevin. She would be gone at times for over a
month just seeing the sights. She would come back with some of the
funniest stories to tell on herself.
Mary is survived by her chldren, Mark and wife, Sharon, of Joplin,
David and wife Marg of Warrensburg, Francie and Dale Roberts of
Osceola and Kevin of Cleo Springs, Okla., six grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren, many, many family members and friends.
Services were Friday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at Bear Creek United
Methodist Church. Minister was Richard F. Sunderwirth. Music was Bear
Creek Blue Grass Gospel Band.

Thelma Marie Baxter was born June 3, 1927 in the Corbin Community near
Harper to George and Tressie Harper. She passed away at Golden Valley
Memorial Hospital on Sept. 4, 2007 after a long struggle of multiple
medical conditions.
On June 13, 1952 she was united in marriage with Flavel (Pee Wee)
Baxter. To this union one son was born, Curtis Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bondena and
Barbara Joan and two brothers Veldon and Franklin.
She is survived by her husband, Pee Wee of the home; her son, Curtis,
four grandchildren, Rachel, Khannah, Eythan and Yakov, one
great-grandson, Byrden, her sister, Geneva Fisher, her brothers, Jack
Harper, Dale Harper, and Lonnie Harper, numerous nieces and nephews,
other family members and friends.
Thelma spent her adult life living in Osceola community where she was
employed by Sac-Osage Hospital in the Nursing Department for 21 years.
Following her retirement and declining health, she and Pee Wee movd
from their Osceola home to Clinton. While her health permitted, she
enjoyed quilting, gardening, visiting with family and friends, adn
keeping Pee Wee in line.
Services were held Saturday, Sept. 8 at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel.
Officiated by Minister Greg Mangum.
Music selections were "Daddy's Hands", "Amazing Grace", "Just A Closer
Walk With Thee", and "In The Garden".
Casketbearers were Bob Harper, Yakov Baxter, Jeff Cogan, Eythan
Baxter, Lowry Belisle and Eddie Simmons.
Interment was in Osceola Cemetery with arrangements made by

Charles L. "Charlie" Beach, 66, Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday,
December 31, 2006, at Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton.
He was born April 16, 1940, in Osceola, the son of Willard Lewis Beach
and Ruth Annetta (Roeder) Beach.
On November 19, 1965, in Phoenix, Arizona, he married Beverly Ann
Lucas, who survives of the home.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He
worked for many years as an over the road truck driver for several
Windsor area trucking companies and had also worked at the former
Windsor Small Engine Repair Shop for several years. He was a member of
the Vista Methodist Church, Vista and the American Legion Post 82,
Windsor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lynn Narron and
husband Tim, Warrensburg; a son Walter Lewis "Jeff" Beach,
Moundsville; his mother Ruth Annetta Beach, Warsaw; a brother Harvey
Beach, Warsaw; a sister Evelyn Best, Phoenix, Arizona; eight
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter Beth Howard; a
granddaughter Misha Howard, and a brother Willard Beach.
At his request, his body was donated to the University of Kansas
School of Anatomy.
Memorial services will be Thursday, January 4, at the Windsor United
Methodist Church, Windsor.

was born April 19, 1926 and worked for many years at Mobilteria and
owned and operated Rusty's Country Cafe at Benjamin Stables in Kansas
City before moving to Osceola in 1992. Survivors include six sons,

Earl Edgar Beardslee was born April 10, 1930, in Osceola, to Clyde and
Edna Mae [Akers] Beardslee. He passed away April 22, 2008, at Cox
Medical Center, Springfield.
Earl was united in Marriage to Wynema White and to this union four
children were born. On Aug. 1, 1989, Earl was united in marriage to
Velma Joyce Brown.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Earl was a lifelong
resident of the Osceola area where he farmed for many years. He
enjoyed farming and his mules, horses and trail rides. Earl drove
Peterbilt trucks for years and also hauled livestock in the Kansas
City Stockyards.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob, Eldon, Leo
and Gene, sisters Maxine Kinyon and Margaret Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; four children, Mike
Beardslee and his wife, Mary, Janet Wheeler and husband, Ron, Carol
Davis and Paul Beardslee and wife Debbie; stepchildren Bill Brown and
family, Kenny and Loretta Gabriel and family.. Bob amd Carla Brown and
family, Denny and Joan Owens and family, Jerry and Brenda Brown and

An Osceola man died and a Pennsylvania truck driver suffered serious
injuries in a crash on Missouri 13 Tuesday, according to the Missouri
Highway Patrol.
Earl Beardsley, 78, was pronounced dead in Cox South Hospital in
Springfield after being airlifted for treatment after the 8:55 a.m.
crash 16 miles south of Osceola. The patrol's original report did not
mention Beardsley's injuries.
Truck driver Roger D. Dunlap, 51, of Greenville, PA, was taken to St.
John's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash occurred when Beardsley's eastbound 1995 GMC pickup truck
ran into the path of Dunlap's northbound 1986 Peterbilt
tractor-trailer rig, the patrol reported.

worked with Camp Fire Girls for many years. She is survived by her
husband, Robert (Bob) Beardslee, of the home, and several nieces,

James Eugene "Gene" Beardslee was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Osceola, to
Clyde and Edna Akers Beardslee. He passed away Oct. 31, 2006 in Lee's
Sumit.
Gene graduated from Lowry City High School in 1939. He was a veteran
of World War II having served in the Army Air Force in the South
Pacific from November 1942 until February 1946. After the war, he
began working for Dealers Transport as an over the road driver hauling
Ford cars which he did for 38 years.
On Jan. 24, 1948 he married Lela Marie White of Lowry City. From this
union, two sons were born, Robert Eugene and Leo Clyde. Lela preceded
Gene in death on April 23, 2005.
Also preceding him in death are his parents, Clyde and Edna; three
brothers, Robert F. and his wife, Genevieve, Clinton, Clarence Eldon
and his wife, Opal, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Leo D. Beardslee,
Osceola; two sisters, Maxine Kinyon and her husband, Thoms, Clinton
and Marget Curley Drake and her husband, Donald, Osceola.
Gene is survived by his sister, Jane Mumford and her husband, Larry,
Irving, Texas; his brother, Earl Beardslee and his wife, Joyce,
Osceola; two sons, Robert Beardslee and his wife, Mary Jeanne, Lee's
Summit, Leo Beardslee and his wife, Janie, Raytown; three
grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joshua Beardslee, Lee's Summit and

friends.

Leo is survived by two brothers, Gene Beardslee, Kansas City and Earl
Beardslee, Osceola; one sister, Jane Beardslee Mumford, Irving, Texas;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Eldon
Beardslee and two sisters, Maxine Beardslee Kenyon and Margaret
Beardslee Drake.
Services for Leo were May 3 in the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with Randy
Sheldon officiating.
Musical selections were "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "Peace
In The Valley" with Donna Carney, vocalist and Gail Ingle,
accompanist.
Casketbearers were Mike Beardslee, Leo Beardslee, Mary Hyde, Paul
Beardslee, Bob Beardslee, and Donnie Drake.
Interment was in the Lowry City Cemetery under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Mother Beardslee - At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Rev. E. Barber, in Henry
County, Mo., the subject of this sketch died of old age, August 12,
1898.
Funeral services were conducted by Elders Simmons and Parks. Her
remains were laid to rest in the Snider cemetery.
Sister Beardslee was a native of New York, but at an early age moved
with her parents to Ohio and settled near Cincinatti; thence she
removed to Ft. Recovery, Ohio. Here they lived until the close of the
civil war and then came to St. Clair county, Missouri, and located on
a farm a few miles north of Osceola. Here she lived until after the
death of her husband. Since then she has made her home most of the
time with her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Amrine.
She was married at the age of 18 to Mr. Obed Beardslee whom she
survived thirteen years. By her death she leaves to mourn their loss
two daughters and four sons.
Sister Beardslee connected herself with the “old” Christian church in
early life and remained as an exemplary member for sixty years or up
to death. Her life was a beautiful illustration of true christian womanhood. It was a living epistle of Christ Jesus – seen and read of
all men. Her home was often the tired minister’s home. Her daughter
with whom she has lived for the last thirteen years, writes me “during
the thirteen years I never saw her the least bit angry nor heard an
unkind word. She was always trying to do something for others’
happiness.”
The death of Sister Beardslee takes from earth another of the true and
noble christians and transplants her in that Heavenly country where we
hope to again meet her. Mother, thou art gone but not forgotten. The
righteous shall cease from their labor and their works do follow them.

at her daughter's home in Clinton. She was born December 6, 1933 in
Otto, Kansas. She had lived most of her life in the Osceola and Lowry
City areas before moving to Clinton. She is survived by two sons, Mike
E. Beardslee, Mexico, Mo., and Paul D. Beardslee, Clinton; two
daughters, Janet L. Wheeler, Holden, and Carol A. Davis, Clinton; one
brother, Wayne White, Lee's Summit; one sister, Lela Beardslee of
Kansas City; nine grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Lowry City Cemetery, under the direction of the
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.

Adah Bell Bearteet, 87, of Southern Kansas City, died October 2, 1991
at St. Joseph Health Center.
She was born in 1904 in Lowry City, and moved to Kansas City in 1916.
Mrs. Bearteet owned Adah Bell's Beauty Shop for 35 years, retiring in
1981. She was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church.
Services were at 9 a.m. October 5, at Newcomer's Funeral Hills Chapel,
with burial in Lowry City Cemetery.

Thompson (Tom) Edwin Bedford, son of James and Nettie (Sproull)
Bedford was born on October 12, 1913 at Columbia, Texas. He passed
away at Research Belton Hospital on November 7, 2004 at the age of 91
years. Mr. Bedford loved to dance and travel, seeing many historical
sites. He was a lifetime member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters
Union, having worked in Alaska, Greenland, Peru, Hawaii and numerous
places throughout Colorado and Arizona. He was preceded in death by
his parents, one son J.D. Bedford, three brothers, one sister, two
half brothers and two half sisters. He is survived by two daughters,
Betty Slick and husband Jim of Freeport, Illinois, and Chloe Byer of
Wheatridge, Colorado; two sisters, Lelah Randall and husband Rodney of

Beverly Jo Belew, April 2, 1933 - January 26, 2010. Beverly Jo Belew,
daughter of Oscar and Faye Eckhoff, was born on April 2, 1933. She
departed this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at home with her
family around her. Beverly was 76 years old. Beverly spent most of her
life in Appleton City, Missouri. She had been a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church since a young child. The church was always an
important part of her life. Her strong faith was always a comfort to
her, especially during her last years. As a young adult, Beverly
worked for Ellett Memorial Hospital. After the death of her mother she
worked with her father running the Eckhoff Funeral Home. Prior to her
retirement, she worked for the Appleton City Clinic and Head Start.
She was an active board member of the Appleton City Library and the
Evelyn Laney Brown Hospice. Beverly was united in marriage to Donald
York in 1949. To this union two daughters were born, Barbara Faye and
Debbie Lee. Debbie Lee preceded her in death in 1953. She was again
married in 1954 to Donald Belew. From this union Ronda Kay and Rodney
Ray were born. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, one
daughter, and her great-nephew, Dillon. Survivors include daughter
Barbra Johnson and her husband Kenneth of Naperville, Illinois; their
two children Kelly and Ryan, his wife Michele and their son Tyler. Her
daughter Ronda Strope and husband Leroy of Appleton City, Missouri;
daughter Shelly Koehler, her husband Chris and their two children
Brock and Sidney; son Adam Strope and his wife Amber who are expecting
a son in June; daughter Erin Snyder and her husband Willy. Her son
Rodney Belew and Barbara Belew of Appleton City, Missouri and their
children Jamie and Tanner. Survivors also include her brother Jim
Eckhoff and his wife Myrna of Springfield, Missouri; their daughter
Marzee and son Tad, his wife Karen and their daughter Michelle and her
stepmother Wilma Eckhoff of Appleton City, Missouri. Beverly was much
loved by her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed.

Don Belew, July 13, 1930 - August 4, 2010. Donald Ray Belew was born
on July 13, 1930 in Appleton City, Missouri to Oscar and Leo Belew. He
departed this life on August 4, 2010 at the age of 80. Donald spent
four years of his life at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served in
the 477th Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon. After an honorable discharge
in 1952, he worked as a heavy machine operator. In 1966 he started
working for Peabody Coal Company and worked there until retirement.
After retirement he owed Don’s Place in Appleton City. He then moved
to Wheatland, Mo where he fulfilled his dream of a home on the lake
where he could enjoy his two favorite things, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Oscar, his
sister Helen and his twin sister, Dortha. His is survived by his wife,
Wilma, daughter, Barbara (Ken) Johnson, daughter Ronda (Leroy) Strope,
son Rod Belew, and step-son Billy Roberts. He is also survived by
grandchildren Kelly Johnson, Ryan (Michele) Johnson, Shelly (Chris)
Koehler, Adam (Amber) Strope, Erin (Willy) Snyder, Jamie Belew, Tanner
Belew and Christina Roberts, and great- grandchildren Brock and Sidney
Koehler, Tyler Johnson, Griffin Strope and Hayley Roberts. He also
leaves behind two sisters, Bette (Vince) Engeman and Shirley Harding

Caldwell Worley and passed away on March 10, 2007 at Truman Lake Manor

Ruby was united in marriage to Thomas Edward Bell and to htis union

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Clara Worley and
one brother, Wayne Worley.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Routh and her husband, Fred,
Lowry City; one brother, Harry Dean Worley and his wife, Marie,
Warsaw; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three
great-great grandchildren and two sisters, June Ryan and Punkin
Finley.
She was loved by all and was an especially good mother and
grandmother. She was a very good cook.
Services for Ruby were Tuesday, March 13, at the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel with Greg Mangum officiating. Musical selections were "Go Rest
High On That Mountain" and "In The Garden".
Interment was in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.

Mary Josephine Bellmyer, 73, El Dorado Springs, Missouri, formerly
of Independence, died March 28, 1990, at the Medical Center of
Independence. She was born near Chalk Level and lived in Independence
before moving to El Dorado Springs in 1980. Mrs. Bellmyer was a member
of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, El Dorado Springs.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Bellmyer of the home; three
daughters, Ruth Lemka and Anna Titus of Independence and Mary White,
Buckner; a brother, Herbert Dunning, Independence; four sisters, Retha

A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 21, at the Kansas City
Baptist Temple with a graveside service to follow at the Leavenworth

Georgia lived in New Mexico, Illinois and Missouri throughout her

Georgia and Dee Franklin Bennett were united in marriage in Mansfield,

belonging to the First Baptist Church in

Order of the Easter Star, V.F.W.
Auxiliary, a 65 year member of the Mt. Hope Rural Home Improvement
Club, the Prairie Queen Garden Club and had been a 4-H leader for 35
years. Georgia enjoyed photography, sewing, gardening, flowers and
bird watching. Preceding Georgia in death were her husband, parents,
one grandson and one sister. Survivors include her children, Franklin
Carrell Bennett and wife Sylvia of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Florence
Snyder and husband Donald of Appleton City, Missouri, William Lee

Nixa. She was born July 30, 1926, in St. Clair County, the daughter of
Rolla and Beulah (Akers) Millam. She married Chester L. Bennett,
September 6, 1947.
Opal was a homemaker. For many years she enjoyed painting ceramic
pieces which she generously gave away to family and friends. She loved
flowers, birds, beautiful sunrise and sunsets, and enjoyed
photographing nature's beauty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond Millam,
and infant sister, Marjorie. Survivors include her husband of Nixa;
five sisters, Alice McGrann and husband, Lyle, Monmouth, Illinois,
Neva Goodman and husband, J. A. of Olathe, Kansas, Martha Johnson and
husband, Richard, Osceola, Mary Stober and husband, Pete, Sedalia,

Wm. Berry, son of E.C. Berry, who has been afflicted with epileptic
fits for a long time, died last Thursday evening. It is natural for
parents to mourn the death of their children, but in this instance joy
should take the place of grief. The deceased was getting well along in
years, and was afflicted with a disease that was beyond the reach of
medical skill. His life was one of pain to himself and sorrow to his
parents, and every visitation of his severe convulsions seemed to be
more distressing. Now that he rests from his affliction, his relatives
should rejoice that he has gone to that land where disease and death
never come.

Ethel R. West Bess, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 30, 2007,
at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1918, to Jacob Eugene and Frances M. Settle West
in St. Clair County, Mo. She married Earl C. Bess in 1953 and moved to
the St. Louis area.
Ethel attended a rural school in St. Clair County, and in 1934
graduated valedictorian from Schell City, Mo., High School. She
attended Central Missouri State and Southeast Missouri State
universities. She became a CPS and CDP in 1966 and 1976.
After teaching eight years in rural schools, she moved to Cape
Girardeau where she worked as bookkeeper and secretary at Pure Ice Co.
She retired as manager of information administration in Ralston
Purina's data processing division in 1983.
Ethel and her husband returned to Cape Girardeau in 1985. He died in
1989.
Surviving are two nephews and seven nieces, including Jeanene Moritz
(Carl) of St. Louis and Joyce Edwards (Willard) of Gordonville; and
also many great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and
great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
There will be no visitation or service.

Mrs. Bever, with her husband, came to this part of the state in 1867,
and has resided here ever since; her husband died about 11 years ago.
She leaves two sons, and a daughter to-wit, Mr. Henry Bever, of this
city; Wm. Bever, of Bates county and Mrs. Mary Wafle near this city,
and many grand and great grand children.
Funeral services conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ludwig, were held in
the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, after which the remains were
entered in the city cemetery.

Mrs. Alma M. Bieser, 99, of Appleton City, died Wednesday, January 5,
1994, at Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. Mrs. Bieser was born in the
Chalk Level community near Osceola. She was a long time area resident
before moving to Appleton City in 1978. She was a member of the Kidd's
Chapel Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Neva Bieser and Mrs. Bernice Purvis,
both of Appleton City; three
granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be
Saturday, January 8, at 1 p.m. at the
Kidd's Chapel Church. Burial will be in the Kidd's Chapel Cemetery
under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich

Bernice Lee Bieser was born Jan. 20, 1923, near Ohio, to Carl Joseph
and Alma Mae Frisby Bieser and passed away on Feb. 1, 2007 at Truman
Lake Manor in Lowry City.
Bernice was a graduate of Osceola High School and taught four years in
public schools before attending business school in Iola, Kan. She was
subsequently employed in clerical work for 25 years with Phillips
Petroleum Company, first in Kansas City, then in Bartlesville, Okla.,
where she retired in 1988. She was a member of Kidd's Chapel Church.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Joseph and Alma Mae
Bieser and one sister, Evelyn Pervis.
She is survived by one sister, Neva Bieser of Lowry City; three
nieces, Jane Campbell and her husband, Rick of St. Joseph; Nancy
Bowles and her husband, Larry of Miller and Marsha Still and her
husband, Larry of Carthage; great-nieces and great-nephews, Rick
Campbell and his wife, Trisha; Rebecca Bowles, Philip Bowles and his
wife, Christina; Barry Still and Carrie Still and one great-great
niece, Seanna Campbell.
Services were Sunday, Feb. 3 at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Officated by
pastor Sam Masten.
Music selection was "What A Friend" and "In The Garden" by Irene
Hartley, pianist.
Casketbearers were Howard Peterson, Larry Bowles, James Grove, Arthur
Gordon, Rick Campbell and Larry Still.
Interment was in Kidd's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were done by

William Thomas "Bill" Biggs, Sr., went home to be with our Lord and
Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
He was born Oct. 27, 1933 at Rock Spring, Ark., to Kenneth and Dora
(Henry) Biggs.
Bill and Virginia Johnson were married Feb. 29, 1952 and moved to
Kansas City, later moving to Collins in 1981.
Bill was a former Marine, member of the Independence Police
Department, Collins Fire Department, Sac-Osage Fire and Rescue, a
Masonic Lodge member, a Shriner, a minister and faithful servant of
our Lord for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Humansville
Community of Christ Church.
His parents, one brother, two sisters, his daughter and son-in-law,
Patricia and Dale Keirnan preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his wife, Virginia; son, William Thomas Biggs, Jr.
and wife, Regina, Stockton; two daughters, Sue Biggs, Humansville and
Mary Qualls and husband, Jeff, Collins; grandchildren, Christopher
Allen Moore, Samantha Jo Kelly, Amber Rose Keirnan, Timothy William
Keirnan and Joshua Andrew Qualls; and five great-grandchildren.
Bill was a loving and faithful husband, a wonderful father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all. His smile,
laughter, and wisdom will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at the
Humansville Community of Christ Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's
Childrens Hospital.

Wanda Ruth Bingham, age 82, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005,
at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA. Mrs. Bingham was a life-long
resident of St. Clair County, MO, and Jackson County, MO. She moved to
the Northern Virginia area due to health reasons. She is preceded in
death by her parents, Homer and Icle Gerster; her husband, Carlton
Bingham; her sister, Burdeana Janssen; her daughter-in-law, Sherry
Bingham; and one grandchild, Steve Cooper. Mrs. Bingham is survived by
one son, Arthur "Dale" Bingham; one daughter, Vicki Cooper; one

BIRD, Kenneth J.
Kenneth was born June 19, 1924
the sixth of seven children to James J. Bird and Bessie S. Terry in
Gerster, Missouri where he was raised. He was a World War II veteran
serving in the U.S. Army in England where he was a B17 Flying Fortress
bomb leader. Kenneth married Vivian L. Winget April 5, 1956 in
Osceola, Missouri. They moved near Greenwood, Missouri where Kenneth
worked at area orchards until 1963 when he took a farm job in Pleasant
Hill, Missouri working for Joe Henry McKintock. He was baptized at the
first Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. In 1975 they moved to Montrose,
Missouri where he worked for Charles Lampkin and then Philip Lampkin
until 2001 when Kenneth retired and they moved to Hickory Courts
apartments in Appleton City, Missouri. For medical reasons Kenneth
moved to Appleton City Manor October of 2004. He passed away at Ellett
Memorial Hospital in Appleton City August 8, 2005 at 81 year of age.
His marker will be placed near Gerster at King’s Prairie Cemetery. Mr.
Bird is survived by his wife, Vivian Lee Bird of the home; one brother
Bobby Bird of Waubleau, Missouri; three children, Kenneth Edward Bird
of Tipton, Missouri, Penny Lynn Hudson of Blue Springs, Missouri and
Stephen Wayne Bird of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; three
step-children, Ronald Ray Winget of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Charissa
Ann Snider of Columbus Grove, Ohio and Larry Lee Winget of Pleasant

Kenneth Bird was born June 19, 1924, the sixth of seven children born

He passed away on August 8, 2005, at Ellett Memorial Hospital,
Appleton City.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Vivian Lee, of the home; one brother,

Springs; three stepchildren, Ronald Ray Winget, Two Rivers, Wisc.,

Memorial services were held at Hill and Sons Funeral Home Monday, Aug.
15, with Reverend Tony Reynolds officiating. Ronald Vinget read the
eulogy. Vocalist Tony Reynolds sang “In the Garden” and “Lord You’ve
Cometh the Lakeshore”. His marker will be placed near Gerster at
King’s Prairie Cemetery.

Funeral services were Thursday, april 16 at 2 p.m. at Collins Baptist
Church for May Birdsong who died after a lingering illness at
Sac-Osage Hospital April 14 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and ten
days.Officiating at the service was Rev. C.J. Bybee and Rev. Bill Keller.
Music was provided by Mrs. Artie Lee Peterie and Mrs. Zelpha
Culbertson with Mrs Violet Sitton as pianist.
Pallbearers were Coy Waite and Lytle Barnett, Lee Majors, Glen Doman,
Leo Kellers and Stewart Vickers. Burial was made in Robinson cemetery
under the direction of Goodrich Funeral Home.
Abbie May Birdsong, daughter of Willis W. and Nora Shockley was born
near Collins, Missouri on May 4, 1896.
She was married to William Birdsong on Jan 11, 1914. To this union
three children were born; one daughter, Vera Gillespie, Osceola,
Missouri; two sons, Ralph, Independence, Missouri and Ervin,
Snohornish, Washington.
At the age of 18, she was converted at the Weaubleau. Missouri Baptist
Church. At her death her membership was in the Hickory Grove Baptist
Church near Humansville, Missouri.
Her husband, Rev. Birdsong died August 31, 1959. She was, also,
preceded in death by her father and mother.
She is survived by her three children; one sister, Laura Mae Glaze,
Coffey, Missouri; two brothers, Jodie shockley, East Lynn, Missouri
and Mark Shockley, Kansas; nine grandchildren and fifteen
great-grandchildren.
BIRDSONG, Iva Marie Alspach

Iva Marie Birdsong, 98, died Thursday, March 13, 1997, at Golden
Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton.
She was born in Montrose December 7, 1898, the eldest of three
daughters of Ira and Maude (Dukes) Alspach. Iva graduated from Osceola
Public Schools and Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg,
receiving her certificate to teach in elementary school. She taught at
Ohio Post Office, Osceola, Weaubleau, and Collins public schools.
On June 1, 1920, she married Lester Dallas Birdsong and to this union
one child was born, Victor Herbert Birdsong. Iva accepted Christ as
her Savior in 1934 and was baptized, becoming a member of Coon Creek
Baptist Church in Collins. She later moved her membership to
Humansville and then to First Baptist Church of Osceola, where she was
a member at the time of her death. She was active in WMU and taught in
Sunday school for many years.
She and Lester took pride in growing flowers. Iva was the first
president of the Garden Club in Collins. She also helped organize and
served as president for two terms in the Osceola Garden Club, where
she still maintained her membership. She also was a former member of
the Osceola Tuesday Club. A resident of Westwood Nursing Home of the
past two years and in frail health, Iva maintained a positive attitude
and enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives and keeping up with
current happenings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester in 1982; her parents
and her sisters, Mildred (Alspach) Dooly and Helen (Alspach) Price.
Iva is survived by her son Victor Birdsong, and his wife Norma; her
grandson David Birdsong and his wife Jill; her great-granddaughter
Lauren Birdsong, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 16 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel
in Osceola. Burial was in the Osceola Cemetery.
BISHOP, Hazel Evelyn Ammons

Hazel Evelyn Bishop was born Oct. 16, 1912, the second child of Bessie
and Gilbert Ammons on a farm near Rockville. The family eventually
consisted of Oma May, the oldest, Hazel, Glenn, Fern, Margie and
Doris.
Hazel was baptized in the Christian Church at the age of 11. She
graduated from Rockville High School and in 1932 married Lawrence
Bishop of ElDorado Springs. To this union daughter Bonnie was born.
In the middle 1930's Lawrence, Hazel and Bonnie traveled by car over
very bad and sometimes mountainous roads to Washington State for the
apple harvest to earn money. They did this four different seasons
during the depression. On returning from washington they lived and
worked in the greater Kansas City area. Hazel worked in the garment
industry for 35 years.
After 49 years of marriage Lawrence died in 1981 and Hazel continued
to live in the home until she was 88 years old.
Having health concerns, Hazel lived with her daughter and son-in-law
Bob and Bonnie Prince, for five years. After back surgery, Hazel moved
to Delmar Gardens Nursing Home.
She leaves one daughter, Bonnie Prince and son-in-law, Robert; one
granddaughter Sherry Campbell and husband Chris; two
great-grandchildren Joshua Fry and Heather Manchion and husband Dave:
four great-grandchildren Beau Bishop Montgomery, Jacob, Faith and
Kaelyn Manchion; two sisters Doris Clark and Fern Lewis and
brother-in-law A.J. Lewis and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, January 17 at the Park Lawn Funeral Home
with Chaplain Mike Collins officiating.
Interment was in the Freeman-Holsaapple Cemetery. Arrangements by
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
BISHOP, Rosa Viola McIntire

Rosa Viola Bishop, the daughter of Hesakia Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth
(Pasley) McIntire was born in Monegaw Springs on Feb. 10, 1894. She
departed this life at Westwood Nursing Center in Clinton on Sept. 13,
1993 at the age of 99 years.
Rosa grew up in Monegaw Springs area and later lived in the Johnson
City area for 67 years. She also lived in the Lowry City area before
moving to Clinton in October of 1992. She was united in marriage to
Mike Bishop in 1923. No children were born to this union, but they
raised their niece Abby Shepard as their own daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, three
brothers, James A. Arthur and Charlie McIntire, and two sisters,
Myrtle Ashby and Maud Dorrell. She is survived by two grandsons,
Lonnie Shepard and his wife Connie, Larry Shepard and his wife Wanda;
six great-grandchildren, Tina Mitchell, Mike, Christie, and Leon
Shepard, Michelle and Lorie Ortmyer; six great-great-grandchildren and
a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Rosa attended the Johnson City Church of God. God was always with Rosa
in her actions as in the songs she sang. Rosa's enjoyment was talking
and singing with her grandchildren and she loved visiting with her
friends. She loved to crochet and give away her work as gifts. When
she was in her own home she had beautiful violets and outdoor flowers
all around her home. She will be sadly missed by her family and
friends. Funeral services were Thursday, September 16, 1993 at Hill &
Son Funeral Home, Appleton City. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery.

Eveleen (Eve) Vivian Biston was born February 5, 1928 in Osceola, to
Albert and Gladys (Whiteman) Shepherd. She passed away June 2, 2007 at
Strafford Care Center, Strafford.
Eve married the love of her life, Phillip John Biston on September 1,
1950. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2001.
Eve is survived by three sons, Rodney Snitker and wife, Debra, Phillip
Biston III and wife, Paulina, Billy Biston and wife, Tanna; one
daughter, Kathleen Snitker, grandchildren, Damian, Jason and Marty
Snitker, Adam Watkins, P.J. and Michael Richards and Tonya Biston,
Jeff, Stephen, Austin and Trevor Biston and Cody Bryant, other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was on June 6 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Interment was
at the Bear Creek Cemetery with arrangements made by the

Eva Dean Bixler was born on Oct. 3, 1927 in St. Clair County to Eury
and Lola Wilkerson Shaw and passed away on Jan. 26, 2007 at Santa

Eva grew up in St. Clair County and moved to California in the 1950s.
She worked for many years for the J.C. Penney Company. Eva was a
Christian.
Her son Kenneth was 55 at his passing. He was a Vietnam veteran and
lived in California his entire life. He was a self employed carpet
layer. He leaves his companion of many years, Dee Padilla.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Eury and Lola Shaw, her son,
Kenneth Steven Bixler and four brothers, Harold, Howard, Elvin and
Willard Shaw.
She is survived by one sister, Erma Lee Woody and husband James of
Belton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel officiated by Rev. Fred Stevens.

Mary Jane Hardy, 72, passed away at her home in Clinton Friday after
having been in failing health for several years. She was born in
Kentucky and came to Missouri as a child. On August 27, 1906 she was
married to Joseph Cranmer of Monegaw Springs and to this union six
children were born. Later her husband died and she was married to John
Bland. To this marriage one daughter was born.
Survivors inclide three sons, Timmy and Harvey of Clinton and Melvin
of Jefferson City; two daughters, Mrs. Everett Anglin of Osceola and
Mrs. Paul Stemm of Vestal, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Hardy of
Collins and Alice of California; three brothers, Millard Hardy of
Roscoe, amos Hardy of Collins and Russell Hardy of Weaubleau.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Clinton and burial was

Albert (Buster) Edwin Blew, the son of Oden O. and Cora E. (Erhart)
Blew was born on September 8, 1913 in Montrose, Missouri. He passed
away at North Kansas City Hospital on June 8, 2002 at the age of 88
years. Nearly all of Mr. Blew’s life was spent in the Montrose,
Missouri area before moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1996, having
lived on the farm for 63 years. Buster worked for Peabody Coal Company
and was the co-owner of Blew Lumber Company in Montrose. He was
devoted to his family and a lifelong member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed his quarter horses, trail rides and
raising Angus cattle. Buster was a talented carpenter and wood
crafter, and made lots of wagon and truck beds for the farming
community. Buster was a member of the United Mine Workers, Montrose
Saddle Club, Lakelanders Camping Club, Montrose Cemetery Board and
United Presbyterian-Methodist Church. He was united in marriage to
Laura E. Hart on September 30, 1933 at the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church in Montrose, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents
and sister, Mary Elizabeth Jones. He is survived by his wife Laura of
the home, a daughter Jean Blew McHenry and her husband Jim, grandson
Brian and wife Susie and two great-granddaughters Natalie Ann and
Macie Ellen McHenry all of Kansas City, Missouri. Buster will be
greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Donald "Don" E. Blomert, age 72, of Rockville, passed away quietly on
May 28, 2006, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital, El Dorado
Springs. He was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Montrose to Martin J. and
Sophina A. Englehart Blomert.
Don was united in marriage to Hazel Parks-Renick on Oct. 25, 1969. He
worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for six years
before starting with Peabody Coal Company. He retired from Peabody in
1987 after 25 years, due to disability from the job. Don was a member
of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of El Dorado Springs and the
United Mine Workers Local 1122.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Don is survived by his wife, Hazel of the home; a son, Richard and his
wife Nicole of Osceola; a daughter, Donna and her husband James Wood
of Rockville; two grandchildren, Megan and Derick and many friends.
Funeral mass for Donald E. Blomert was held on Thursday, June 1, at
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Rockville
Cemetery under the direction of Hackleman and Sons Funeral.
Pallbearers were Richard Renick, James Wood, Derick Renick, Dennis
Eye, Lane Morris, Merle Barbour, Jo Dean Pierce and Donald Bain.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Ruggles, Bill Trebb, Charles Bean and
Don Belew.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Mine Workers Local 1122.
