Will of Kindred S. Felts, Sr.

June 1, 1871

I, Kindred S. Felts, of the County of St. Clair, State of Missouri, being of sound disposing mind and memory in view of the certainty of death and the uncertainty of life do make, ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament, revoking all other wills heretofore made by me.

First. I will and bequeath my body to the dust from which it was taken and my soul to God Who gave it.

Second. I will and bequest to my granddaughter, Martha Chadwell, one hundred dollars to be paid her with the interest that may accrue at the age of twenty one years.

Third. I will and bequest to the heirs of my daughter America Billings one thousand dollars to be paid them equally after the decease of their parents with all the interest that may accrue thereon. And I hereby appoint my son Kindred S. Felts as guardian of said heirs.

Fourth. I will and bequest to my granddaughter Martha Louisa Pemberton, one hundred dollars believing her father to have received as much or more of my estate than I can now give my other children.

Fifth. I will and bequest to my three grandchildren, James Nichols Pemberton, Viola Jane and Edward (Edmund?) Pemberton, children of Joseph Pemberton, one hundred each to be paid them as they arrive at age, with the interest that may accrue, and hereby appoint Daniel Chadwell as their guardian, also guardian of Martha Louisa Pemberton.

Sixth. I will and bequest to my son-in-law and daughter George and Martha Farmer one thousand dollars in property, as far as it goes, and the balance in money, taking such property as he wishes at an appraised value and such as he deserves may be sold.

Seventh. I will and bequest to my son Nicholas Felts five dollars.

Eighth. I will and bequest to my son Henry L. Felts three hundred dollars.

Ninth. I will and bequest to my son Kindred S. Felts three hundred dollars.

Tenth. I will and bequest that after my funeral expenses, doctor bills and all just claims are settled by my executor and the several amounts specified paid over to the guardians herein appointed, the balance of my Estate if any will and bequest to my daughter Martha D. Farmer and her heirs as a testimonial of my appreciation of their kindness to me and the trouble I gave her in my last sickness.

Eleventh. I will and bequest that my Executor pay over to the guardians herein appointed the several amounts specified in this will.

Twelfth. I will and bequest John T. Metcalf to be the Executor of this my last will and testament.
