Samuel W. Gerster is a native of Fairfield County, Ohio. He was born on the 20th
of June 1854, a son of Johanes and Elizabeth (Goss) Gerster. Johanes was born in
Switzerland, and Elizabeth was born in Fairfield County, Ohio. Johanes left
Switzerland at the age of 21, and after living in various countries came to
Missouri in 1869, and located on the farm on which his son Samuel is now (1889)
living. He died in Hickory County in 1880.
