M.C. (McELVY) DAVIS (1842-1920)

M. C. (McElvy) Davis was born in Dickson County, Tennessee in 1842. He moved to St. Clair County in the 1850’s.

He enlisted in 1861 from Osceola with a Volunteer Militia. In August, 1862, he enlisted again in Saline Co. Gordon’s Regt., Co. D Mo Fifth
Cavalry. He served all 4 years of the war.

He returned to St. Clair County and married Abbie Artilla Hopkins. They were the parents of nine children.

McElvy died in Coffeyville, Kansas, 21 May 1920 and is buried there.
