JOHN EDWIN COLE, (1832 - 1914)

St. Clair County Families, Book II, page 47:

John Edwin Cole was born in Washington DC in 1832. He migrated first to Ohio, then to Iowa where he joined the Union Army, Co. H, 5th Infantry in 1861. He served three years. By 1866 he was married to Elizabeth McKibben and came from Iowa to Missouri with the McKibbens, Burrows and
Calvirds. He married Emma Cooper Short (widow of Will Short) in 1888.
