Birth notices from The Appleton City Journal, Appleton City, St. Clair, MO, 1887
(partial- Jan 20th thru Mar 24th):

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns were made to rejoice yesterday morning by the arrival of a little daughter of about the usual avoirdupois. To say that Robert is too full of joy for utterance is putting it very mildly, while Grandpa White sings and dances with glee just as if he was half as young as he used to be.
(Appleton City Journal, 20 January 1887)

Mrs. P. M. Cox, Sr., last Sunday celebrated her 88th birth day. There were present besides the family Mrs. L. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lilly, and several others.
(Appleton City Journal, 3 Mar 1887)

Our tonsorial artist, H. C. Wagner, is rejoicing over the arrival of another bouncing boy in his family, which put in an appearance Tuesday. Twenty-five years from now if the Republican majority in this county does not completely obscure that of the Democrats it will not be Wagner’s fault.
(Appleton City Journal, 10 Mar 1887)

James Crutchfield was stepping unusually high in the city Friday, all because of the arrival of a fine boy at his house. Who wouldn’t step high?
(Appleton City Journal, 24 Mar 1887)
