Joseph Miller-Elizabeth Leiterer (Leiter) Family History

I would like to share my Miller Family History.
 

Joseph Miller b.abt 1828 d March 30,1867 married in Stark County, Ohio on Aug 22, 1850 Elizabeth Leiterer (Leiter) b June 11, 1830 d January 3, 1898. 
Joseph died while he was serving in the Mo. Home Guard and left Elizabeth a widow with children.
Both Joseph and Elizabeth are buried at St.Lawrence Cemetery, New Hamburg, Scott County, Mo.
  

The children of Joseph and Elizabeth Miller are:   

  1. Sister Mary Gregory OSF formerly Miss Mary Miller born  on 7-7-1852 d. at Joliet, Ill on 10-23-1907   

  2. William Valentine Miller b 11-30-1856 d 1-09-1940 married 10-04-1886 to Mary A Dirnberger b 9-12-1862 d 09-26-1918 both are buried at St. Lawrence   

  3. Sister Mary Anne OSF formerly Katherine Miller b 7-6-1860 d 12-13-1930   

  4. Joseph Miller  b 10-30-1858 d 3-26-1932 married Regina Halter b 8-19-1858 d 7-09-1898   

  5. Edward Lawrence Miller b 07-06-1862 d 02-09-1944 married Caroline Killhoefner (Kielhoner) b 11-19-1864 d 09-01-1953 both are buried at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo   Built their home in Oran, Mo around 1895. Edward was a farmer and reared 8 children.  

    Edward and Caroline Miller's children are:  

    1. Anna Kathryn Miller b 3-10-1890 d 2-14-1929 buried in Old Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo. married Grover Gent.   

    2. Loretta Gregory Miller b 01-24-1892 d 11-30-1948 married 11-06-1918 to William Nicholas Carroll b 9-36-1882 d 11-21-1970. They divorced and she married  on May 14, 1938 Ernst Hanselman b 1874 d 1953. Loretta is buried at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo--Wm N. Carroll is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sikeston, Mo.-----and Ernst Hanselman is buried next to his first wife in Friends Cemetery.   
      Daughter of Loretta Gregory Miller and William Nicholas Carroll:

      • Virginia Mary Carroll Taylor - born May 02, 1929 in Vanduser, Scott County, Mo. to William Nicholas Carroll and Loretta  Gregory Miller
        She married Edwin Dean Taylor on May 19,1968 in Kabul, Afghanistan. She passed away
        April 18,1997 in Woodbridge, Va. She lived most of her childhood in Oran, Mo. She and her husband are both laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.   

      Parents of William Nicholas Carroll:
      William Livingston Carroll - born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 4, 1856 to Matthew Carroll and Anna Burns
      He married Susan Mary Marshall b 12-17-1860. died 1948. William was a Judge  of Scott County in 1880 & 1890. He
      passed away 04-25-1938. He and Susan had the following children: 
      1. Parthena Francis Carroll
      2. Franklin Matthew Carroll
      3. William Nicholas Carroll
      4. Mary Anna Carroll
      5. Oscar Edward Carroll
      6. Arnold J. Carroll
      7. Ben Franklin Carroll
      8. Marvin Livingston Carroll

       

    3. Marie Antoinette Miller b 01-20-1894  d 02-20-1990 buried at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo. she was formerly Sister Mary Lawrence OSF. She received dispensation in 1944 to take care of her elderly parents and made a deathbed promise to take care of her brothers and sisters, which she did. Known to family as "Toni".   

    4. Sister Mary Emmanuel OSFformerly Zita Miller b 04-09-1896 d 07-31-1944 she is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet, Ill.  Known to family as "Manny".

    5. Sister Mary Michael OSF- formerly Geniveve Miller b 07-29-1898 d 05-01-1964. She taught school at St. Denis in Benton at the time of her death. She is buried at Resurrection Cemetery, Joliet, Ill  - known to family as "Mikey".

    6. Sister Mary Virgil OSF-formerly Bertilla Miller b 11-04-1900  d 12-09-1990 she is buried at Resurrection Cemetery, Joliet, Ill.  Known to family as "Virgie" and she loved music!   

    7. Joseph Edward Miller - b 05-21-1904  d 05-12-1973.  Joe never married, buried at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo.   

    8. Andrew Charles Miller - b 9-11-1909  d 09-01- 1997 married Dorothy Monan,  both are buried at Guardian Angel Cem. at Oran, Mo. He was a postal carrier and never had any children.  Family called him "Noonie".

     

  6. Frank C Miller b 01-01-1866 d 11-26-1945 married 02-19-1889 to Cresentia Heisserer b 06-15-1868 d 05-19-1938 both are buried at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oran, Mo.   

Second husband of Elizabeth Miller was Adam Burger b 1819 d 10-24-1875 their children are:  

Triplets:

  1. Henry b 7-18-1869 d 8-06-1896

  2. Philip   b 7-18-1869 d 1-02-1871

  3. Aurilla b 7-18-1869 d, (went by Emma) married Wm. H. Heisserer buried at St. Denis, Benton, Mo 

  1. Louis Burger b 12-16-1871 d,  married Julia Eva Heisserer b 6-3-1871 d 11-06-1911
