Sanford Worth Spurgeon was the husband of Amanda Ellen Tharp. He was born
January 4, 1851 in Washington County, Indiana to Wiley and Aroled Orellio Carter Spurgeon
When he was 2 years old his family migrated in a covered wagon to Davis County, near Mark.
Amanda and Sanford lived their entire married life in Davis County where Sanford farmed.
Sanford died June 17 1929 in Moulton, Appanoose County, Iowa at the home of his
daughter Bessie Horn. He and Amanda are buried in Hopkins Cemetry near Mark.
